Hello!

At 16 or 17, I was given a medication because of a misdiagnosis, and that drug caused me to put on more than 50 lbs. That's where my obesity story begins. Once a body is obese, as plenty of people know, losing weight and keeping it off becomes biologically hard, so I spent my whole adult life fighting that battle. From Whole 30 and Paleo to Atkins and Weight Watchers-- I tried a long list of diets and got almost nowhere. I tracked calories, and I put every item on a food scale "to the gram," all while thinking the failure to lose weight was on me. For a stretch I was even Vegan... that was after the "Forks Over Knives" documentary came out, you know. Exercise-wise, I went through yoga, every kind of cheesy workout video, interval jogging, and weightlifting.

Stress eating was another piece of it. Any time I lost weight, a stressful life event would knock me off course. My highest weight, 278 lbs at 5'5", came after I worked in a workplace that was very toxic for me. Not long after I finally got out of that job, I ended up in the ER with a hypertensive crisis-- my blood pressure had climbed so quickly as I gained weight very fast. That "wake up call," plus a new blood pressure medication prescription, made me decide to give weight loss a real try once more. I began going to the gym. That was the first time I tried to get and pay for GLP-1, but at that point it simply wasn't within reach for me.

In my later pre-GLP-1 weight loss attempts, no amount of "willpower" seemed to matter, because even when I white-knuckled everything, I'd wake in the middle of the night ravenous and couldn't sleep until I wasn't hungry anymore-- so my days followed the plan perfectly, yet I'd eat in the middle of the night just to get back to sleep. That was the situation right before I began Tirzepatide.

I had been logging 1500 calories and 150 grams of protein daily in the Weight Watchers app. I stuck to a regular workout schedule. It felt like I was making huge efforts and sacrifices, and I was losing 2 pounds a month. Over 4 months on that plan, I went from 268 lbs to 260 lbs.

Right after starting Tirzepatide, before I lost even 1 pound, I noticed I felt better. My energy was higher and I could jog without leg pain. My blood work came back normal within 3 months.

Altogether, I've lost 61 lbs since starting. On average, my weight loss has held steady at 1.7 lbs a week. I believe I still have about 49 lbs to go, but goal weights leave me feeling super unsure. At around 50 lbs down, I had to halve that blood pressure medicine, and soon after I actually needed to stop it entirely. My sleep is better and my cardiovascular fitness keeps improving.

I'm here because learning from other people's experiences is something I love. Cheering others on toward their goals is something I enjoy too.

Thanks for reading!
