G'day , I'm a 70-year-old bloke living in Byron Bay , Australia . Yoyo dieting has been my story for ages — I've tipped the scales anywhere between 75kgs and 100kgs more times than I can count . These past 40 years I've stayed clean and sober for 37 of them , and the one stubborn , crippling leftover from my addiction is eating too much . Lately I've been riding that intermittent dieting merry-go-round , managing some wins only to end up obese again ( I cringed at that word and spent years refusing to accept it applied to me
) .
About 7 weeks back I ran into an old mate , and he told me about a new GLP 1 called Reta and how much it had helped him . A few days later I rang him up and told him I was keen to give it a go . We caught up , he handed me a 30mg reconned vial plus accessories , ran through the instructions , and I headed home to look into it properly . A few days after that I decided to begin , though I'll admit I was a bit on edge — it had been 40 years since I'd last put a needle into myself .
My first pin was 2mg , taken right before sleep . The following morning I had a mild headache , which vanished by the next day . Nothing else showed up
. Tomorrow marks 6 weeks and I'm down 6 kgs ( 13.2 lbs ) , from 93 to 87 kgs . Last week I moved up to 3 mgs , and the day after I felt incredibly energised for 24 hours , close to euphoric . What truly blows me away is being able to stroll down a supermarket aisle without waging war against all the sugary and salty stuff hollering for my attention — it's calm and silent
.
So here we go , still a long road ahead , but things are looking a whole lot brighter .
