Back in 2007, I weighed 415lb and that's when my journey to lose weight began. I did it all naturally through diet and exercise. Over the years, my weight went up and down a lot, but I managed to get down to 300lb by using the treadmill and tracking calories with myfitnesspal. In 2018, I weighed 348lb when I started crossfit and learned about counting macros. Just before Covid in 2020, I reached 226. However, after Covid, I fluctuated between 230-245. The past 2 years have been hard because of snacking and eating without thinking. I just couldn't stick to my diet consistently. No matter how active I was, I couldn't make up for a poor diet. A friend persuaded me to give RT a try. So I started on march 1st. I'm glad I did! It's been a big help. After meals, I feel full and my desire to snack has dropped a lot. I think it also got me motivated again to plan meals and eat right to reach my goals! I aim for 190g of protein daily and I don't cut out carbs either. I began at 2mg and haven't changed. I'm considering trying to reduce to 1mg a week to see if it works the same.

Fitness

Doing crossfit since 2018

Started hyrox last year, completed 2 hyrox events so far. Also do hyrox training 1-2 times in a good week

Took up running since starting crossfit. In the last 2 years, I've run 5k's, a 10k, and 1/2 marathon each year.

I play a lot of pickleball, at least 3 times a week, often 4-5 times.

Progress so far on 2mg once a week

March 1st

  • Weight 246.4lb
  • Body fat 38.1%
  • Muscle mass 144.6lb
April 10th

  • Weight 234lb
  • Body fat 35.3%
  • Muscle mass 143.6lb(every other day it goes to 144 and back down)
Hoping to see my long term goal of 199lb!

By the way, this community has been awesome—over the past few weeks I've picked up a ton just by browsing around. So much useful stuff! I can't say enough good things about using the search feature!

Update for June 29th (day 97 on reta)

Scale: 221.6lb (on 3/1 it read 246.4lb)

Body Fat: 32.4% (3/1: 38.1%)

Muscle Mass: 142.2lb (3/1: 144.8lb)

Skeletal Muscle: 43.6% (3/1: 39.9%)

Visceral Fat: 15 (3/1: 19)

Body Water: 48.8% (3/1: 44.6%)

To repeat, my starting dose on 3/1 was 2mg. For the past 3 weeks ive been at 2.5mg. Keeping snacking and food noise under control has been simple, and diet plus exercise are still my focus.

My Macros

225g of Carbs

60g of Fat

200g of Protien

(i aim to land near these numbers each day)

Helllo, metrofats,

The thing that stands out most to me is how much muscle you've managed to keep while dropping over 22 pounds altogether. When I began, my weight was just a bit above where you're aiming to finish, yet of the roughly 30 pounds I've shed so far, no less than 10 has come from muscle. According to my partner, my legs now resemble toothpicks. I know I should start weight training, but I'm just so lazy . . . .

Keep up the good work.

CrossFit has been part of my routine since 2018. These days I also do hyrox. Over the past few years I've run 5k,10k and 1/2 marathons. Pickleball takes up a lot of my time too!

Lift weights and make sure you get protein—you'll rebuild that muscle!
