I came to this community hoping to pick up more knowledge about the newer medications and treatments that have been helping a lot of people get healthier.

Some background on me: my diagnoses include hypertension, prediabetes, and fatty liver disease. I truly never imagined I would be dealing with something like this. But once my daughter, Sophia, arrived she is 5 years old now. I gradually stopped taking care of myself. My drinking went up, my smoking went up, and the way I ate turned awful. Suddenly, my health had declined in a major way.

The bright side is that I've chosen to turn things around. I'm training at the gym again, my diet is far better, and I'm putting in the effort to rebuild my life. Progress is happening, though I realize there's still a great distance ahead of me. So here I am, to gain insight from others, get a handle on these new treatments, and base my health choices on solid information.

Above all else, I want to remain present for my daughter. I want to see Sophia grow up, graduate, get married one day, and hopefully spoil my future grandkids. That drives me each and every day.

I'm eager to learn from everyone here and I hope this is a welcoming community. Thanks for having me!

I'm in the same boat. I'm 53 and have a 7 year old son. My goal is to stay active enough to match his energy and be around to see him become an adult. He plays a lot of sports, so I enjoy helping him train and coaching him. Keep going!
