Hello from Florida!

Background:

27/M 6'0" Got pretty fat around 8-10 years old, got put on a diet and lost the weight by 14, started abusing prescription amphetamines at 16 which blossomed into intense polysubstance/rc/you name it abuse for many years. Started cooling down on that stuff in my early twenties and I'm practically done now.

Good genetics and a good metabolism but struggle with overeating and discipline. I see results very quickly when working out or reducing calories, but both of those things are intensely, sometimes impossibly, difficult to pull off.

I bloated up to the 240's for a while, was even 250 at one point.

My parents are taking care of me and I'm unemployed.

This is relevant, because the success I'm seeing would be much more difficult if I had responsibilities of my own.

Started retatrutide the Monday before last, almost 3 weeks ago.

I began at 0.5mg on Monday, then another 0.5 on Wednesday, 0.5 on Friday, and 0.5 late Sunday night.

This worked well for me, I believe. The appetite suppressant effects build over time and I was able to get a feel for some small side effects. Almost immediately after my first dose, I noticed a persistent change to olfactory sense. I'm more sensitive to certain smells and tastes now, bad ones mostly, but the effect isn't pronounced. Early on I also noticed changes in skin sensitivity, creepy crawlies, and itching. I have an unrelated chronic histamine issue that I take daily fexofenadine (Allegra) for, and it's managed those effects no problem. I also feel calmer and more focused, but most of that is probably because of lifestyle changes.

I weighed in the Monday after to find that I had lost four pounds since starting the reta. I went up to 1mg and took that on Wednesday, and that brought me the appetite suppression that I needed. It's been four days since my last dose, and I think I'm going to do another milligram this evening to keep up momentum, though honestly the appetite suppressant is still in effect.

Diet has been mostly fruit during the day, something sugary first thing in the morning to activate my metabolism and then an apple or banana every couple of hours until I have a large low carb dinner with 1lb of chicken or beef and eggs along with something green. I have since modified this plan to spread protein throughout the day, after learning that the body can only absorb 40-50g at a time.

Worthy of note that my sleep, which was already poor, was severely impacted early on and caused me to quit caffeine entirely. Which isn't something that I could or would do normally, because deep down I'm still a drug addict.

I did a lot of damage to my heart when I was younger, and I have to supplement magnesium daily to avoid palpitations. Retatrutide did not cause any problems with my heart rate or blood pressure. I'm still a nicotine user, and I checked my blood pressure a few days ago to find it's 126/87 and 70bpm - one of the lowest pulses I've had in years.

Obviously, none of this is perfectly dialed in, but I'm very happy to finally be able to control my eating and see results when I put in effort. I look much better than when I started. I've also been walking 2-6 miles per day jogging when I can.

I also like the way that I feel.

Sorry for the lack of organization. Hello all.

I don't think you are doing good to your body and health by eating so often. If you eat species appropriate diet (mainly animal fat and protein), few times a day should be enough, because that will keep you satiated, especially if your body has stored surplus of energy (fat). If you need to activate your metabolism, some kind of physical exercise would do it much better that eating sugary food. Retatrutide will help you start loosing weight, but you should use it to gradually improve your lifestyle: what you eat, and how and how much you move.

I hope this doesn't sound too harsh! Welcome to the forum!

You think that I'm making a mistake by eating 3-4 apples or bananas a day lol?

And a species appropriate diet being mainly animal fat and protein?

Obviously animal proteins are the best proteins, but most people, especially not those trying to lose weight, don't need to be conscious about eating enough fat. It sounds like you're coming from a doctrinistic headspace.

Like I said, I'm eating a pound of meat/multiple eggs most days, and I'm eating in a 500+ calorie deficit while avoiding unnecessary fat and shooting for 50-100g of protein a day.

You are very probably spiking your blood sugar every few hours, and that can make you a lot of problems, and these problems compound in time. You could try using Continuous Glucose Monitor for a few weeks and see what the data will tell you. After that, it's up to you to determine what doctrine is doing you good. If the results are great, well, great!

I will ruminate on it. I'm inclined to believe you. Moving forward, I will try to buffer my carbs with psilium husk and see what happens.

Seeing as I am exercising for 2+ hours a day, some carbs are necessary.

It also appears that I need to be more dilligent about protein intake. Starving is so much easier than 100+g a day spaced out into 3-4 doses.

You don't need to space out your protein. It isn't true that anything over 40g gets wasted. A bolus of protein will first but it takes a lot longer. Think of it like a slow trickle instead of a pump n dump. A body uses between 250 and 300g protein daily for every cell in your body and for making some hormones too. What you didn't get in diet, your body recycles. You can watch professor luc van loon on YouTube. Good stuff.

I hope this isn't out of line. You were kind and have me information when I was new here and I wanted to ask a question. I recently got a call from my cousin and picked her up. She's asked for help to get clean from crack, I think there's other substance too but she isn't saying. Any way, did reta, or even tirz help you with any cravings?
