A bit of background on me:

July 2021: My GP sent me to a weight loss clinic, and I enrolled there. They gave me counseling about losing weight. At that point I weighed 305lbs.

December 2021: I was diagnosed with diabetes (the second A1C reading came back over 6.5). Metformin was the first medication I went on. Weight: 310lbs.

April 2022: Ozempic was added.

April 2023: I moved over to Mounjaro. Weight: 245lb

June 2025: Lost my job. Managed to get some COBRA.

Feb 2026: COBRA ended and I still had no job. That's when I went on Apple Health (which is Medicaid here in Seattle, basically insurance for people with low income).

March 2026: Coverage for Mounjaro stopped. Weight: 211lb.

I've spent the past several weeks trying to get Mounjaro reinstated so I can dodge that wonderful $2938429342/month price tag. The PA came back denied, and the appeal was denied too, though they say they'll cover Victoza now. I'm not sure I want to go that route. I'd prefer to stay on what I'm already taking. I saw someone here mention paying $30/month in cash (buying several months worth at once). That's something I'd be willing to do.

Branded mounjaro became impossible for me to obtain as well, which pushed me toward gray. I'm based in the UK and was buying it privately, though I ended up with extra supply because I was drawing smaller doses out of larger pens. My bmi went from 46 down to 29.5, which did a lot for my health, but now they refuse to prescribe again since my bmi sits below 30, and because there's a gap in my ordering history they won't treat me as an existing patient. So, gray it is.

Good luck with your journey
