Hey everybody.

A Canuck here, living on Canada's west coast.

My whole life, as far back as I can recall, weight has been a battle, and I've given just about every option within my budget a shot.

Every day I log my calories and macros, I hit the gym for strength work 4 times per week, add cardio 2 times per week, and leave myself 1 day to recover.

Because living costs so much in canada, once rent, food, car insurance and the rest are covered, there is nothing left for health canada approved drugs such as ozempic or mounjaro.

For as long as I can remember I have been parked at roughly 25-28% body fat, and I could really use a lift in how I feel about myself.

My hope is that this community can point me toward resources so I can work on both my physique and my mental health.

Thanks for welcoming me in.

Hey, John. I know that road. Sending you my best. If you cheer for the canucks, perhaps landing McKenna this summer will give you something to smile about?

Jokes aside, I hope you can get these compounds without putting yourself at risk - they truly work. Along with how dedicated you are to the gym, I bet progress will come quickly. Best of luck.

In the USA, the situation is identical. GLP1 prescriptions typically cost anywhere from $100+ up to $1000 each month. Many people have no alternative except the grey market, and that strikes me as deeply unfortunate.

Healthcare across the west follows the same pattern. Everything is controlled by corporations, and they've inflated prices so enormously that one hospital procedure can leave someone bankrupt.

My suggestion to you: have your testosterone levels tested. I'm not certain whether private lab work can be ordered where you are in Canada, but if it's possible, it's the single best thing you can spend money on. Plenty of men past 35 have low testosterone without realizing it. I've known many guys who were put on anti-depression medications and went misdiagnosed for years... low-t was the real issue all along, yet it's rarely the first thing checked.

Wishing you the best on your journey.

Hey John, your story really hits home for me. Weight has been a battle for me too, going back to childhood, even though I eat well and stay fairly active. So far, GLP1s have proven to be a really useful aid. To me, they act as an extra boost that reinforces the good habits I already follow.

Heyya, thanks for reaching out.

Sadly, on my dad's side, slow metabolisms run in the family.

I had my T tested 4 months ago and for a guy my age, I'm actually above the avg level.. I've got the full beard and bear chest lmao

really hoping to start trying reta if i can get into a testing group.

much love.

Hey John,

Another Canuck right here. Trust me, I get it — been down that road already. My coverage is solid, yet mounjaro still isn't on the list. Dropping 1k every month? Not happening. Eventually I came across a couple of solid alternatives, and these days I'm doing well — dropped a serious amount of weight.

Hope this forum treats you as well as it's treated me!
