Hi all, I've signed up here and begun my own path with incretin medication. Because access is so unreasonably out of reach for a lot of Australians, I went the greymarket route, and reading through plenty of posts on this forum has helped me enormously so far. For the last 4 weeks I've been self medicating, and it has turned out to be precisely what I needed.
In my life I've dropped weight 4 times with no help at all, every time over 20kg, frequently nearer 30kg -- from 110+kg right down to 85~kg. On top of that I resistance train, and have done for the last 4 years. Every gram of food I eat gets weighed, my diet is very healthy overall and junk food doesn't tempt me, yet in the end the hunger wins. Whatever I tried, maintaining was impossible, and I made up my mind that I won't spend the rest of my life balancing a book on my head. Honestly, I'm sick and tired of skinny people claiming I simply lack discipline, when they've never demonstrated anything close to that same discipline in their own lives.
After the last few months I've come to the conclusion that what I have is an absurd punishment handed to me at birth, a genetic proclivity that governs my hunger drive. I refuse to be gaslit any longer by people who have never suffered, telling me this condition is within my control -- it isn't. Why should fat people be expected to stay permanently fully dialed in, crying themselves to sleep from hunger, just to live a normal, healthy life with dignity, while everyone else gets to enjoy that same life without such suffering? To me, incretin medications are nothing short of a miracle, one that finally lets me enjoy life for what it is.
Sorry if this post became a bit of a vent, but I felt many others might feel the same and relate to it. I wish every one of you the very best results, because you all deserve the best! Thank you for welcoming me into such an amazing community.
