Hi all, I'm kind of a super-newb. I was born and raised in California but moved to the UK coming up on 10 years ago. Those 10 years have wreaked havoc on my body, mind and overall well-being.

Im here, initially, to lose weight. I was always able to easily lose weight when I chose to. Can't tell you how many times I lost 50+ lbs and did it easily. That is not the case now.

I'm drained & exhausted with all of my efforts to lose fat, gain back my mobility, my confidence & my effervescent personality. Which brings me to this forum.

I've had prescriptions for glp1s going back 5 years ago up until December 2025 but have never tried them. I don't think a straight GLP1 will help me as I hardly eat much as it is. My problem is a fatty liver that won't budge - it won't allow me to burn fat despite my strict, clean eating & working out. So, I'm here to do research on any and all peptides that will help with fat loss primarily, then hopefully all other aspects of my health.

I'm particularly interested if anyone has info on how particular peptides help with compound MTHFR gene mutations, too.

Looking forward to being a part of the community!

Hey!! American in the UK too. Where abouts are you? I am near Leeds. I am homozygous for the c667t variant of MTHFR. I haven’t come across anything about it in my peptide reading other than maybe you could consider glutathione? I have minimal effects that I know of due to mthfr so haven’t considered peptides though do methylated b vitamins, try to avoid folic acid, have done TMG, omega 3 is meant to be helpful. HTH.

Glps would likely still be helpful for you. You probably have some metabolic dysfunction and insulin resistance, which glps can help with. Reta also can help activate the glucagon receptor, which can help you burn fat and calories. It is also good for fatty liver though the others may be as well so I would look into that.

Hi! It's always fantastic to meet other Americans in the UK. I'm mostly in Manchester but spend a lot of time in Glasgow, where my husband is from. Where are you based?

I have sticky blood from my MTHFR mutations and have gotten blood clots in the past. I'll look I to glutathione, for sure, thanks!

Thanks! I'm just so afraid if losing the wee bit of appetite I actually have - when I eat crap, I have zero problem eating 🤣 But i mostly eat pretty clean & I struggle to eat enough.

I have heard that some people stack Tirz along with Reta - perhaps I should research that setup, too. I'm really open to testing it out.

Oh my about the blood clots. That is scary. I was on heparin during pregnancy because of it.

People do Tirz with Reta for increased appetite suppression most commonly. It honestly sounds like Reta might be better for you. It doesn’t suppress the appetite as much. I am on it and it has been great. I think if I had to do it again I probably would have picked Tirz for appetite suppression, but that is with thinking I could be on a lower dose. But I am on a lower dose of Reta and it has been fine (so maybe I am being silly thinking Tirz would have been better for me…) ! You will learn loads here and that may help you decide. In the end you don’t always know how you will respond, but at least you can go in knowing that.

do you mean you had a GLP 1 prescription in the UK? Was it NHS or private, didn’t know you could get them for non type 2 back then!

No, it was through my American doc but my GP would accept his prescription and write me one. I never wanted it for GLP1s but needed it for levothyroxine. I don't know that many GPs here are as progressive as mine.
