INTRO I'm so dizzy, my head is spinning

I've at last taken the crypto plunge. Apart from a little btc purchased on robinhood back in covid times, crypto isn't something I deal with.

Thus far I've opened several accounts:

Exodus

Kraken

Coinbase

Exodus was giving me a hard time. It seems nice enough, yet the interface could be more intuitive.

So I moved to the coinbase app instead. I was able to get 20bucks turned into ETH. I got it from coinbase over to my kraken wallet. After that I made a test transfer to a vendor.

Turns out they dont accept ETH coin through ETH, so I had to swap some into USDC (which the Kraken app let me do directly).

I got ahead of myself and through a hand full of small transactions, I got funds into my wallet. Right now I'm just sitting on the 7 day hold.

It's been a weird few hours. Fortunately I'm at work and getting paid to sort this all out.
Another huge problem is how much TIME this whole thing eats up while I try to work it out. Maybe you could start a little side gig showing people like me, who aren't young anymore, how to manage it. I'd gladly sign up as your very first pupil.

I appreciate you telling us what you went through, and it's really good to know you sorted it out. Smart move to send a tiny test amount of $ first just to confirm it all goes through!

Yep, I get it. The first stretch can feel like a lot to handle. What I'd suggest is finding a friend you're close to and trust, then having them walk you through it — or simply run through the whole process and do a couple of transactions together, until you're at ease handling it on your own. Stick with it 💪
The funny thing is, I had been thinking the same way—trying to come up with anyone who could lend a hand. Only 1 name came to mind, and she happens to be an accountant. So this morning I gave her a call and asked whether she knew anything about Crypto. She laughed and said no... she doesn't even put money in the stock market, and she figured she and her hubby are the old fashioned sort who bury money in a coffee can out back. Then she laughed again and said she was totally kidding. I told her too late, I already have a shovel in my hand. BLAHAHAHAHAAAAA!!!

A section of the forum exists specifically for crypto.

You might find some help over there.
I appreciate it—pretty sure I've located 1. Even so, I'll keep looking. At this point I've made up my mind: this past month has eaten up far too many hours, so it's better to step away, get my chores back under control, then return in 1 or 2 weeks and give it another shot.

Just realized the VPN route isn't necessary for me to get dark grey matter. What a massive weight off my shoulders. It's like I can finally exhale...well, sort of...the crypto jitters are still hitting me hard
Not all VPN services operate the same way. Some providers keep records of user activity, while others clearly outline how they handle privacy. Providers such as Proton and Nord, which publish active no-log privacy policies, are the ones that count. If your goal is real privacy, a VPN is only a starting point — there is a lot more involved. You would want to look into browser fingerprinting, cookie tracking, and tor. Rather than turning this forum into a side conversation on something unrelated, send me a PM if you'd like further details. I've spent most of my career working in cyber.
I have no clue how to send you a d m. I'm laughing at how clueless I am. Honestly, I wish I were a drinker, because right now I get the feeling a strong stiff drink would really hit the spot. Teeheeheeeeeeee

I'd been picking up Crypto lingo, so your username caught my eye and made me curious. I stalled out at "Zero-Knowledge Proof"...then it hit me I'd gone the wrong way. Looks like you're in the same lane as Vans-RV 6 . That's awesome! 😎 You're still plenty COOL, while I'm completely washed up.

When a person first lands in a new subject or a forum whose structure they don't know, the whole thing can feel jumbled and confusing.

Still, if you keep reading and going back over things, you'll find that bit by bit you take in the material and start to sort it out. It begins to click -- you see patterns, the links between ideas get sharper, and what used to seem like too much turns into something that holds together.

Give yourself some time to look around and work out how this site is arranged.

ticed your username, I was intrigued. I couldn't get further than the "Zero-Knowledge Proof"...and realized I was on the wrong path. Seems you are like Vans-RV 6 . That's really cool! 😎 You are still very COOL and I am all washed up.

For me, this specific username / account chain serves one narrow purpose: keeping things private. That's about it. 😉
