5 years back I dropped 115 lbs doing Keto, then came the PMOS diagnosis plus being told I was Pre-diabetic. Talk about frustrating. Over the past 2 years, despite eating as clean as I can, 30 of those pounds have crept back on. It drives me crazy. My doctor suggested Ozempic as a way to help, but my insurance refused to pay for it unless I became fully diabetic. That means I’m doing this without that support. 9 weeks into Tirz and I’m down 15 lbs so far. For several weeks I’ve been quietly reading posts here and on other forums, waiting nervously for the moment I feel brave enough (and smart enough) to go ahead and buy gray successfully.

Hi there! While I'm using Reta, keto is something I've been curious about. My knowledge on it is pretty limited, and I'm fairly certain I'm messing it up badly.

That said, I'm aware Reta is working really well for me.

Any keto advice you could share so I might pick up a thing or two?

And welcome to the fourm. I'm also new, but this community looks like a solid spot to gain knowledge.

Nice job on that amazing keto progress! A coworker of mine pulled off the same thing, and I've thought about giving it a shot, but carbs are in everything I enjoy 🤣 . The insurance situation is ridiculous, honestly. Plenty of them have caught on by now that stopping problems early costs less than fixing them later! Glad to have you here, and make the most of what's coming!

The single biggest factor in my success was figuring out how to enjoy my favorite meals while cutting carbs or removing them entirely. Instead of tacos in a shell, I have taco salad. For pizza, I use fathead dough rather than a standard crust, and I swap burger buns for chaffles. “Keto” breads and tortillas are something I avoid, since they contain gluten and gluten triggers inflammation for me. When sugar cravings hit, search for fat bomb recipes to get through them. Those first 2 weeks are brutal thanks to sugar addiction and cravings, but once you’re past them, everything becomes much easier!

Thank you! I’m definitely a carb-aholic 😂 My hope is that reta will get my weight loss moving again, but right now the price is the main thing stopping me. These days I’m constantly going through threads here, trying to work out the hints and abbreviations. So far I feel really dumb. Lol

When I hear “fat bomb,” my appetite just disappears. Is that basically the same as putting butter in coffee? I liked the taste, but it sent me running straight to the bathroom.

Since starting reta, my cravings are gone entirely.

One more point in favor of Reta. My approach is a maintenance dose, which helps me stay on my diet, quiets cravings, and brings the other advantages it offers. Weight loss isn’t my goal.

Wishing you well as you get started! At the beginning I was extremely careful, and at this point, after plenty of lurking, reading, and researching, I feel completely at ease with the grey market. Keep learning!

Yeah, the name sounds pretty unappealing 😂 but really they’re just small cheesecake-style balls made from full-fat cream cheese plus a sugar free sweetener. You can find plenty of recipes online, both for “sweet” fat bombs and for “savory” versions. I’d sometimes prepare a batch in advance and keep them in the freezer, either as a way to work some healthy fat into my day or for when I was craving something dessert-like during stressful days lol

I wish I could reach the same ease you have, and soon! The next hurdle that intimidates me is sorting out payment, or learning how to handle crypto. 😬

Being told you have PMOS and are pre-diabetic after sticking with keto — with 115 pounds as the result — has to feel like a gut punch. I had no idea that could happen. Obviously that's not why you posted, so I won't push, but I'm genuinely intrigued.

I'm in the same boat as a newcomer (read for ages, only now posting). My GLP-1 is also paired with keto. Roughly 15 years of eating keto-ish, yet staying away from carbs over the long term has always been my weak spot. Are you planning to return to low-carb now that you're on a GLP-1? Since a GLP-1 tends to turn down food noise, it could turn down carb noise too, if a low-carb-ish approach appeals to you. On the other hand, some folks here seem able to eat a mixed diet healthily thanks to their GLP-1, so perhaps you'll have more options now!

Either way, welcome to the posting side of the forum!

While taking a GLP, I’d suggest steering away from staying in full KETO mode—without carbs as fuel, things probably won’t go smoothly. Instead, go with smaller servings of balanced meals, nudging protein up a bit, and let the GLP work its magic. Dropping weight gradually and steadily is kinder to the liver and helps avoid non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. I’m not a Dr or Dietician—this is just my 2 cents after spending many hours down rabbit holes reading.

It drove me crazy and made zero sense… I had already cut out carbs and sugar completely, yet my fasting glucose was still a bit elevated. After 2 years of working so hard to get healthy, it felt like I was going backwards.

These days I’ve brought fruit back in, and once in a while some rice, though sugar and wheat are still off limits. Sugar has to be handled like an addiction for me, because I know “in moderation” just doesn’t work in my case. 😝 Tirz has given me some progress so far, but I keep wondering whether Reta might suit me better.

Cheers to all of us just starting out on this journey! 🍻
