Hello all!

Even though I started looking into things back in December 2025, I haven’t made any posts until now. It feels like the right moment to finally tap into all the knowledge this community offers.

My bariatric surgery took place in December 2018, and it worked well… up to a point. Around 215 lbs came off, but after lockdown I put back on roughly 100. My relationship with food has been really difficult. The only thing that has quieted the food noise for me is GLPs, and I’m incredibly thankful for that.

I’m looking forward to keeping on learning and to assisting other new researchers!

Gastric bypass didn’t get me to the weight they thought it would — I dropped roughly 90 pounds and then the regain kicked in right away. This happened long before GLP1s became common. Tirz (and now reta too) has been a huge help, and I’ve shed more than surgery ever managed. Wishing you the best!

Welcome — so glad you chose to post.

That’s quite a journey. Dropping 215 lbs is a huge achievement, and the regain after lockdown is something plenty of people went through in one form or another. It doesn’t undo any of it — it simply shows how tangled and long-running this whole process is.

What you said about GLPs silencing the “food noise” is something that surfaces over and over, especially among people with a long, difficult history with food. For many, that shift alone is everything, because consistency finally feels achievable rather than a permanent fight.

You’ve already pulled off one of the hardest things there is — serious weight loss. Now it’s about building something you can sustain, with better tools and more understanding of how your body responds.

This is a great spot to keep learning and swapping notes. Glad you’re here — I suspect your story will end up helping more people than you realize.
