alright, suppose I should do a proper intro.
my health journey kicked off roughly 4.5 years back, when I weighed 250 pounds. I had spent years doing crash diets, starving myself, eating processed foods, dealing with a serious sweet tooth, and watching the same weight come and go. At some point it was clear that approach wasn't working.
someone I know suggested I talk to a doctor about TRT. Once I got on treatment, I started training on a regular basis and put my energy into gaining muscle to boost my metabolism, instead of jumping into yet another restrictive diet.
over the last few years my weight has stayed fairly steady, sitting somewhere between 190 and 205 pounds. Around 3 months ago, I started looking into retatrutide as an option for shedding the last of the body fat. That search pulled me into the peptide rabbit hole, and it showed me how many other potential uses are being studied.
with 42 coming up, my health now sits near the top of my priority list. The foundation is there, but what I want now is to help my body work better at a deeper level, not just push the scale number down.
The 3 main things I'm concentrating on are insulin sensitivity, systemic inflammation, and mitochondrial health. Based on what I've picked up so far, a lot of the newer peptide research seems to tie back into improving at least 1 of those core systems.
