Hi
New to this forum, though not to GLP-1's. I'm 33, African American, and my journey began in 2022: pre diabetic A1C, high blood pressure, 320lbs, 5'8" and PCOS. Semaglutide (Ozempic) was prescribed in 2022 and my employers insurance plan covered it. I lost 40lbs while being extremely sick with nausea and vomiting, yet it was worth it to me haha
A year on, in 2023, insurance stopped covering (O) unless you were diabnosed diabetic. I figured I could hold my weight loss without it. WRONG. Over the next year I ballooned to 330.
In 2025 I changed jobs and the new insurance covered Tirzepatide for weight loss. Since then I've lost 71 pounds! This is the lowest weight I've EVER been. I feel good. I feel healthy! Lighter on my feet! PCOS symptoms have decreased and my blood pressure is normal!
Fast forward to May 2026: budget cuts were announced and Tirzepatide cover stopped! I panicked. Gaining weight is not something I want, and without glp-1 there is no way I could control my appetite, binging, or inflammation.
Here we are in July 2026 and one dosage of Tirzepatide is all I have left. For months now I've been exploring grey and other peps, because I'm tired of my insurance and my lack of expendable income deciding whether I'm healthy or not! That's the obvious reason I joined this forum, and I'm glad I'm here! Ready to learn more! Looking forward to networking and connecting with like minded people. Nice to meet you! Thanks for reading
