Hi everyone
I'm 35F, in the UK. Our price increases hit me after roughly a year on non-grey Mounjaro, during which I'd dropped 60-70lbs. With shortages appearing out of nowhere and the budget suddenly under pressure, I quit 15mg cold turkey in September. Over the past six months, a good deal of that weight has come back, and the other conditions mounjaro helps with have flared up again too (chronic pain, viral inflammation, heat intolerance, etc). It's obvious to me now why people call it a lifelong medication. On top of that, I'm angry about all the years I spent fighting my weight, right up to and including weight-loss surgery, and about the assumption that I should simply return to that fight as though I don't know another way exists!
This week I reached my breaking point and bought another 2.5mg pen, once again through a regular pharmacy. But I'm aware I'm fooling myself that I can keep affording it, so that's why I'm here - attempting to figure out how this grey stuff operates, what the dangers are, and if it's a realistic choice, particularly with the 10-year-wait before any generics reach this country. Honestly, I'm still torn on whether this is the route for me, but any information helps. I value the guardrails this site seems to have, and I've spent the past couple days reading through to get my bearings.
Excited to dig deeper - thanks, all.
