Hi, I've just begun losing weight with Mounjaro, so I figured I'd say hello.

My main goal is to soak up everything I can about GLP-1 agonists—how to get the best results while staying safe, plus how they stack up against the alternatives out there- keen to eventually try reta but it's early days still.

I've been quietly watching the peptide world from afar for some time, and now I've reached the stage where I want to learn properly through real-world stories, hurdles, and the shared wisdom found in communities such as this one. The depth of knowledge available here is massive, and I can't wait to dive in.

Safety best practices and long-term strategies are what interest me most, and it would be brilliant to link up with people walking a similar road.

I want to look into what's available to me, though doing it safely matters a lot. Given everything that's been announced lately, it's been on my mind constantly.

Can't wait to hear from other members and learn about their experiences.

Which side of this are you drawn to — just the GLP1s, or some of the others as well?
Thanks for getting back to me. Since mounjaro is what I'm using right now, I'd like to look into tirzepatide as a cheaper option going forward. That said, Reta does appeal to me, though I'll save that for later, after I've gotten comfortable with how things work and sorted out my routine so my weight training stays consistent.

Honestly, the entire peptides world leaves me confused, but that's a topic for a different channel.

What are you aiming for and how do you go about it?

Tirzepatide is what Mounjaro is, meaning grey market Tirz you purchase will function identically.

Sept 2024 was when my wife began Mounjaro; I came on board Feb 2025, then in May 2025 I was made redundant, which led me to search for a cheaper option to continue, discovered the grey market, and never went back. Nov25 was when I moved to Reta due to Tirz side effects becoming troublesome for me, yet Reta brought its own set of problems, so these days I split 50/50 between Tirz and Reta, which suits me nicely.

Up to now my wife has dropped 8st while I have shed 6st; every morning at 5:30am we're at the gym, plus we do a shared PT session each Tuesday... this morning the leg press hit 270kg 😯

I saw elsewhere that you dropped from 134kg down to 97kg while on Tirz. That's incredible! Would you mind sharing your protocol and the timeframe? Right now I'm at 115kg, just into week 2, and barely exercising at the moment, so I'm not holding out for miracles.

That's wonderful for the two of you. Weight training and the gym matter so much, and it's something my partner and I used to love doing as well. These days, though, between a young family and heavy work commitments, it's genuinely tough. This month I'll begin adding to the home gym and get started again. 🏋️‍♂️

After returning from Zante in July24, my wife and I reviewed our vacation pictures and felt appalled by what we saw. I weighed more than 134kg (21st), yet because I'm 6'3 I convinced myself it was simply being 'big'... I won't share my wife's exact numbers. I was pre-diabetic, my cholesterol was in the red, 1 knee had been replaced and the other was deteriorating. By 50 I felt like a depressed wreck.

During a conversation, I asked my wife whether she'd come across this new weight loss injection I'd spotted on TikTok. She replied yes, but she couldn't afford to begin it. I said I'd cover the cost, and she began in August24.

I began TRT in Nov24, which assisted with many of my personal problems, but I didn't start Mounjaro myself until Feb25. My main reason for beginning was that the TRT was making me extremely hungry and I required something to control my appetite. I had in fact gone from 134kg down to 124kg before starting MJ, purely by following my wife's MJ diet and going to the gym.

I lost my job in May25, so although we could still afford the MJ prescriptions, I chose to find a cheaper way to keep us both on MJ, and discovered the grey market.

Regarding protocol, we support remaining on the lowest effective dose that works. Checking my spreadsheet, I did:

7 weeks 2.5mg

14 weeks 5mg

1 week 6.25mg

15 weeks 7.5

By this point some of the Tirz side effects were becoming difficult, so I chose to move over to Reta.

We brought in Reta at 1mg per week and began tapering the Tirz down.

I've included the graph from our smart scales, but since I only got them in March25, they don't capture the early loss. Even so, you can see it's a gradual, consistent decline over a long stretch, until I hit my goal around Nov25

Thanks @thisaccountisntme for laying out your schedule in such detail. Seeing that you were able to keep your doses within that management range is encouraging, and it makes me think the same thing could work for me. My guess is I'll still be on 5mg mj for another couple of months while I get things sorted.

Your TRT journey has caught my attention too, since I've been thinking about it myself and believe it might give my energy and mood a real boost. I'm 42 and it feels like my energy and drive are being drained away. From what I can tell, getting treatment through the NHS is quite difficult because the levels required to qualify are set very low. Would you be alright with sharing whether you got treatment via the NHS or went private instead?

I'm 52, and my levels came back low enough that the NHS would have offered treatment, yet getting the GP to sign off plus the waiting lists made it impossible, so I paid privately during year 1, though the expense is staggering for something that's actually fairly accessible. Once I'd done a year with the doctor, worked through the blood tests and got a handle on some of the issues, I chose to handle it myself, and that's what I've been doing for roughly the past year.

At the start I used Optimale(Manual), though there are other providers out there. According to my wife, it's the single best decision I've ever made.

Depression fixed

Energy up

Mood up

Crankyness gone

Simply an overall sense of well being, and my wife tells me I'm far nicer to have around these days.

I've attached a screenshot of my 1st year costs from my spreadsheet.

It's wonderful that things have gone so smoothly for you... aside from the expense. Thanks for posting—it helps me see what I'd be signing up for if I went that way. Maybe I ought to look into a DIY protocol and get a handle on my bloodwork and potential risks.
