42-year-old guy from Texas. I stumbled on this forum roughly a week back and figured I'd go ahead and sign up.

I was on Tirz for around a year and a half, but the price got to be too much to justify, and I was completely fed up with insurance playing games — endless forms and approval hoops. It's depressing how much of a headache the whole thing is.

My journey probably began in early 2024, when I chose to get my act together, stop drinking, and genuinely try to get in shape. I've made a lot of progress that I'm fairly pleased with, though as most folks here surely realize, there's no finish line to this.

Honestly, I don't have anyone in my life I can discuss this sort of stuff with, so I'm glad to have found a spot with others walking a similar road.

Great to have you join us! It sounds like the past couple of years have brought some major changes for you, and that progress is something to feel good about. I know firsthand how tricky it can be to keep things steady over the long haul. Having a group of folks who get what you're going through should make the road a bit smoother. What stood out as the biggest change you saw while you were on Tirz?

For me, there were really two parts to it.

The most obvious one was that I could keep eating even when I knew I was full. The second, and probably the bigger one, was noticing that because of my years of drinking, whenever hunger hit, my automatic reaction or line of thinking was "Let's drink first then we can eat later" — a double whammy. I'd take in too many calories from alcohol and then eat far too much once I was drunk. Ate out wayyyy to much.

After starting Tirz, I went months without ordering out. I'd always been big on cooking at home, but once I was drinking I'd put it off. Not feeling hunger as often helped me stop immediately thinking about drinking.

Then, once I reached my goal weight, I remember feeling pretty disappointed that my body still didn't look the way I'd hoped. That's when I realized I needed to add some weight training, and I began tracking my macros. It's hard to say how much the macro tracking helped, but I still do it out of habit. I never would have thought that one day I'd be someone who tracked his macros, but here I am. I'm not sure any of it would have ever happened if I hadn't started with getting up the nerve to look into using a glp1.

How's your journey been?
