My Ex has been talking about Reta for roughly the past year. She uses it, and from what she tells me, I've gained a few pounds (okay...more than a "few"). Not long ago I made the decision to try Reta myself. I've been on it for around 6 weeks now. According to the scale, I'm down 10 lbs. I recently had to reconstitute my first dose. I'm trying to figure out if my math checks out. It's 24 mg. As I understand it, that means I should use 2.4 ml of BAC (or two full syringes plus 40). Is that right?

If you add 2.4ml of bac, the concentration becomes 10mg/ml — meaning 1mg sits in every 0.1ml, which equals 10 units on the majority of insulin syringes. Assuming that's your intended result, then your math checks out!

Three months are almost behind me on this journey. Aside from my bowel movements being clearly irregular, side effects have been minimal. Daily trips to the bathroom used to be my normal, but no longer. To address this, I've incorporated fiber into what I eat. The scale has stopped moving downward. Since the "food noise" has clearly dropped, I'm confident the medication is doing its job. Hunger isn't something I feel. My starter dose is finished, so more kit(s) need to be ordered. I've been looking into what happens when Reta is continued versus stopped. Certain sources recommend locating a maintenance dose and remaining on it, while others describe cycling on and off. Which approach works best?
