By the time I was around 12 years old, I had what I can only describe as an uncontrollable food addiction. Looking back, I honestly think it started much earlier. I grew up with way too many processed foods and not enough whole, nourishing foods, and I think that played a huge role in how my relationship with food developed.

By the time I was 13, I weighed around 260 pounds. It didn't take me long to realize I needed to make a change, but anyone who's dealt with food addiction knows it's so much more complicated than just "eat less and move more." The food noise was constant. It was exhausting.

I eventually lost the weight, but instead of healing my relationship with food, I ended up struggling with bulimia. I felt like I was trapped in a cycle because no matter what I did, the food noise never really went away. It was like my brain never got a break.

Now that I'm an adult, I've been able to start semaglutide, and I can honestly say it has changed my life more than anything else ever has. I know GLP-1 medications aren't magic, and you still have to put in the work, but for the first time in my life I feel like my brain is... quiet. I don't spend every waking minute thinking about food anymore. I can eat a meal and move on with my day instead of constantly fighting cravings or obsessing over my next meal.

People often ask why these medications are so life-changing, and I don't think it's because they "make you lose weight." For me, it's because they gave me something I'd never experienced before: peace. I genuinely don't think years of therapy could have quieted my food addiction the way a GLP-1 has.

I'm really grateful to be here and excited to learn from everyone else's experiences. It's comforting to know there are other people who understand what it's like to live with food noise and how life-changing it can be when it's finally gone.

Thank you for sharing your story.

I feel you with emotional eating - happiness good day became an eating reward - sadness/bad day - eat to cheer up.

My GLP1 journey has been up and down - lost 5 stone with Mounjaro and then stopped regained some weight but then maintained on semiglutide, but feeling not much effect. Energy levels are really low and feeling sluggish all the time. I’m spending time and learning on this forum - investing in RETA also TB500 for joint inflammation too - which restricts my training due to chronic injuries.

Best of luck x

Welcome! I really connected with your story. I am on a low dose of reta, and while i have not lost a lot of weight, just the freedom from being obsessed about food is the most valuable part of my journey. I finally feel like normal person, getting to make rational decision about eating.
