Hi all. For 2 years now I’ve been using Tirzepatide to shed the pounds that menopause brought on. Results have been excellent, yet summoning the drive to lift weights again is impossible for me.

This month I hit 54. Life feels like it’s at a pivot point: 25 years in academia, and with budget cuts plus really poor enrollment, I’m leaning toward switching careers—except I have no clue what the new path would be. Beyond that, the whole world feels off, and I realize plenty of other GenXers my age feel stuck too.

That’s why I’m here, hunting for solutions. The drop in inflammation from tirzepatide really pleases me, but even so:

Menopause is brutal, and a solid night of rest has escaped me for ages.

I’m aware of the tasks piling up (update the resume, tidy the basement, kick off a revolution, topple our awful government, cook something for supper) BUT FINDING THE MOTIVATION to do ANY OF IT is beyond me.

Oh, did I bring up that I take Duluxitine, the antidepressant? Deep sadness isn’t really what I feel—it’s more that setting aside my knitting, or whatever craft I’m into, to actually do stuff just doesn’t appeal. All I want is to work on my projects and imagine how to halt the dumpster fires raging across the globe.

Still, I’m here seeking tips to get healthier and maybe shift my outlook. Fair warning: my sense of humor runs dark.

Greetings, another Gen X er going through menopause. 16 months in for me, and the scale is down more than 80 pounds. Things are pretty good at this point — I’m holding steady and working on recomp. Technically my bmi is still a touch high, but who cares!

That awful early phase of exercising? I got past it by paying for a trainer. My husband and my friends also push me to stick with it.

Is it possible the glp is giving you anhedonia, which piles on top of the Gen X IDGAF mindset we already have? My dose has stayed low, yet I still needed to dial it back after a mild bout of anhedonia. 🤷‍♀️

Maine koala, tirzepatide might be giving me some anhedonia. I’m hoping someone here on this forum has advice. A personal trainer is out of my budget. I know I need to do something.

Getting started is the toughest hurdle. Try splitting things into smaller pieces—for instance, commit to just 10 min on your resume. Should you feel like continuing once those 10 min are up, great; if not, call it there and pick it up again for 10 min the next day. Basement: tackle a single task, or put in 10 minutes of effort on it, and so on.

I signed up at a gym and began attending the group workout classes they offer. I’m the same way—self-motivation is a struggle for me, yet after I begin, I typically feel like carrying on. The group plus the trainer I team up with are genuinely fantastic, and we all pitch in to keep one another accountable.

61 yo old boomer here. I also recall those days (like looking through thick haze). HRT made a big difference for me. These days I’m on Tirz—and I’m wiped out as well, yet MOTS C genuinely gives me a boost in energy, and I take it on days when I lift weights. It’s truly essential —as I’m sure you’re aware—to do resistance training. Keep that muscle safe!

Hiya! This resonates with me a lot. To deal with weight gain I've been taking Reta, and getting back into weightlifting has been a struggle—beginning tasks felt almost unachievable.

For me, Semax (used intranasally) has been a massive aid for task initiation, executive function, and focus, while 5-amino-1mq has helped with the fatigue (I'll be adding mots-c before long as well).

I'm also just beginning CJC1295 without Dac plus Ipamorelin. Once good ol' peri kicks in, muscle mass goes down as visceral fat goes up, so CJC+Ipa is meant to address both of those. It ought to benefit metabolism and sleep too! So I'm eager to see what happens.

Also, I'm not sure whether you've had anything like this, but from the time my perimenopause started, my period has been completely unmanageable. The bleeding is so heavy that my iron has hit critical levels, and nothing I try brings it up. My doctor and I have been tackling this for some time, yet it keeps falling. Then a few months back it suddenly turned very light, and I couldn't work out why until I noticed it lined up with when I began BPC-157 and TB-500—apparently that can be an effect!! So I'm hoping that really is what's behind the menstrual change and that I can finally get my iron levels up!

TMI incoming: back when I was about 45, pre-Covid, I had nonstop bleeding plus awful cramps. My Gynecologist — a very skilled woman — sent me for a vaginal sonogram. Turned out my uterus had 2 polyps the size of almonds, and they weren't cancerous. Those were the reason for the heavy bleeding. While those were being taken out under general anesthesia, the doctor proposed putting in a Progesterone-releasing IUD at the same time, since I was already under. Roughly a month post-surgery, the bleeding quit entirely. But because the IUD is still in place, once perimenopausal / menopausal symptoms appeared, I needed blood tests to check my hormone levels and figure out where I stood before hrt could begin.

It might be worth getting a sonogram yourself to find out what's happening in your uterus? Just a thought.

Menopause has me in the exact same position. Is inflammation actually improved by the tirz? I’m thinking about making the change to tirz. I’ve also come across that bp157 pep and tb500 are worth giving a shot.

Hi there. I'm 52 and past menopause, so my situation is very similar—though I was lucky enough to avoid any change-of-life symptoms. That said, I struggle with no motivation, poor sleep, and weight problems, and those have been with me my whole life.

Take a look at this thread

Hey over 50 ladies! Get in here, Let's talk

I really enjoy hearing about what everyone else has gone through! I have a question ahead of my 5th dose tomorrow. I'm still dealing with some nausea on 2.5 tirz. I'm all about sticking to the science, clinical trials, dosing guidelines, and getting the best results possible. I realize I ought to move up to 5 for this dose, but I'm genuinely nervous...

That sounds terrible! Still, I'm happy that you're sorting things out.

After going through every kind of test, exam, and biopsy you can imagine, they still haven't been able to determine what's wrong with me. So if the peptides really are what's making a difference, and they keep working, then I'll be eager to share that with my doctor. Assuming they are the thing that's helping, perhaps it could help her understand both why they work and why I'm dealing with these problems.

Hi, I’ve also got a 50 mg testosterone pellet placed in my hip by my gynecologist. It eases muscle soreness, so combining T with tirzepatide has made a big difference.

What made you pick Clavicular’s Hammer for your username?

I figured it was amusing

He belongs to the looksmaxxing scene, where peptides get used heavily, and he became somewhat known for taking a hammer to his own cheekbones.

As a result, my pictures show a guy pressing a hammer against his face, plus a skeleton with emphasized cheekbones

Alright, I looked into it a bit myself—since I’m old, yep, I catch what you meant! I’m just late to the party here!!!

I hear you, that’s rough. Have you looked into HRT together with Tirzepatide? For me, combining transdermal Estradiol, oral progesterone, and testosterone gel with a micro dose of Tirz was what finally made everything click—weight came off, inflammation went down, cholesterol dropped, I felt good, and I slept like a baby.

Welcome!

Back when I signed up, my assumption was that this place would be full of dudes just looking to get their hands on product

Instead, I found a solid community of folks who want to learn as a group and swap what they know

It still gives me a chuckle, though it clearly doesn’t fit the people here

Other than the tirz, have you ever given any other peps a shot? Right now I’m beginning a cycle of bp157 and tb500 for my shoulder degeneration. It may sound nuts, but I’m pretty sure it’s doing something! My husband keeps shouting placebo, though soon enough we’ll find out!
