My journey kicked off back in 2018, at the heaviest I've ever been…298lbs. I'm a mom to 4 kids and 3 dogs, married to someone who survived a kidney transplant, and I run a small business. That year, 2018, I chose to reclaim my life, and across 3 years—by improving my diet, making protein a priority, doing exercise and strength training, plus Intermittent Fasting—I hit my target weight of 135-140lbs in 2021. Since then, I've stuck with an OMAD way of living. Then, late in 2023, Stage 2 cervical cancer forced a total hysterectomy, leaving me with just one ovary. During the year and a half that followed, I put on 75lbs even though I kept eating healthy and continued exercise and strength training. No sodas for me—just water and 1 cup of coffee daily. I still made protein a priority and tracked macros while in a deficit…but nothing could stop the weight from coming back. It turned out, with my PCP's help, that my body had entered full menopause at 43. After my hormones were sorted out, she brought up a GLP-1. My insurance won't cover any of them for me, so with her backing I went the compound route. The results so far have been amazing. I began at the start of April, and as of today I've gone from 218lbs down to 186lbs. I'm still on a low dose and responding, so I plan to keep going. I lurked this forum for a week before registering, then decided I wanted to take the leap and learn everything needed to go down this path, given all the news lately about crackdowns coming from people who think we don't know what's best for us. I'm looking forward to meeting all of you and soaking up all the incredible info & wisdom you'll share.
