Hey there! I'm roughly 2 months into my compounded medication experience. Weight has been a lifelong battle for me — yo-yo dieting for as long as I can remember, a heavy kid growing up, and a family where bigger bodies are the norm. Once I hit my 40's, shedding pounds felt like an impossible task. Name brand is off the table because insurance won't pay, and paying cash is out of reach for me, same as a lot of people. My PCP wouldn't prescribe compound, though he had no objection to me looking into it independently. That first month on Tirz blew my mind! Is this what it's like for thin folks around food? Just the quieting of food noise showed me what a total game changer this might be! My dad carries a lot of weight, and it's behind the majority of his health troubles. Lately he's brought up wanting to try the shots himself to reach a healthier weight. After watching my own first 2 months play out like a test run, I figured maybe it could do the same for him. So following talks with his doctor, he's now started too, and we're doing this together. He's on social security, so I'm covering his compounds right now, but that can't keep going forever. With all the FDA drama targeting the compound market, I've made up my mind to learn as much as I can while we use what we've got. I've got months ahead for reading and studying, and I'll definitely need guidance — this forum looks like exactly the right spot! So... here I am! Teach me your ways! I am a sponge!
