Ulta Beauty Inc. (ULTA.NaE) is riding the wave of GLP-1 weight loss drugs' skyrocketing popularity, with users gravitating toward hair and skincare items to manage unwanted effects such as thinning hair and shifts in skin elasticity.
GLP-1 Drugs Drive Beauty Product Demand#-glp-1-drugs-drive-beauty-product-demandMedications in the GLP-1 category, including Ozempic and Wegovy, have seen usage climb sharply throughout the U.S., and approximately 10% of Americans were said to be on some kind of weight-loss drug during 2025.
Speaking Monday on Yahoo Finance's Opening Bid, Ulta CEO Kecia Steelman said this pattern is fueling appetite for beauty items.
"Hair loss with GLP-1s is real and our products that can help with that," Steelman said.
"And then also skin elasticity, when you're losing weight really rapidly," she continued. "The skin elasticity is something that you’ve got to get moisture into."
She pointed to an overlap with consumers focused on anti-aging skincare, noting that members of both groups want products supporting "the longevity of the look."
