I have been observing and reading here for some time, but I am a newcomer to the forum. My focus is on GLP-1 medications, and for 1.5 years I have used them personally. Tirzepatide has worked very well for me. I dropped roughly 40 lbs., and my current weight is about 217 lbs. My height is 6'2". To reach my goal weight, I have about 12 lbs. left.
Keeping the weight I want has been a struggle over the years, with many rounds of dieting followed by regaining. Honestly, my reaction to GLP-1s has been miraculous, and at last I have managed to bring my weight down, without an excessive amount of effort. Side effects have been almost nonexistent for me.
Things are going well, then. Some kind of stall seems to have set in, I believe. As I raised my dose from 2.5 mg/week to 5 mg/week, and afterward to 7.5 mg/week, my weight loss was rapid and steady. During the first ~ 6 months, most of the weight came off, and since that point my weight has fluctuated by +/- 10 lbs. Reaching the higher doses was not necessary for me, but because of this stall, I recently increased my dose to 10 mg/week. My hope is that this restarts my weight loss, and a gradual drop toward 205 lbs. would satisfy me, should it occur.
Because of cost concerns and since insurance coverage was unavailable, and Zepbound's price was too high, I began with compounded Tirzepatide. I am currently making the move to the gray market, given the risks and difficulties in the compounded market. Regulatory action appears to be squeezing that market, in my view, and my confidence in the quality of pharmacies supplying it (particularly 503a pharmacies) is not high. Compounded Tirzepatide worked well for me, but it is no longer available as an option. At present I am educating myself on lowering risks in the RUO segment and with gray suppliers. Deeper and deeper into the rabbit hole I go, although the TG approach remains untried by me. Joining group buys is something I want to do eventually, but I have not yet worked out how.
