Hello from Pennsylvania!

As a mom in the postpartum phase, I've spent 2 years battling the same 15 pounds, and I've had enough. It seems like my metabolism has hit a wall, and I've settled into some new "set point." My BMI isn't high enough for a doctor to prescribe anything, but I'm tired of how my body feels, how my clothes fit, and my low energy. I've been doing weight training, and I think my diet is on track, yet I'm worn out and the scale won't move.

I'm thinking a GLP1 (reta?) could be useful. Muscle loss is a concern, so if I take this (kind of intimidating) path, I'll need to monitor that closely.

I'm eager to pick up knowledge from everyone here.

Glad you're here! One thing worth remembering when the scale refuses to budge: muscle is denser than fat. I know how tiring that fight is.

For someone whose goal is only to drop 15 lbs, I'd recommend tirz — unless fatty liver or significantly elevated blood lipids are also present.

Appreciate it, and yes, that's a solid point to keep in mind! I get an Inbody scan (I'm aware it's not great, but I've used it for tracking trends) twice a year. To be clear, my goal is just to be leaner while also looking and actually being stronger. Since making this post, I've been going deeper into the ipa/tesa rabbit hole. Would starting with a combo be nuts? (Triz or Reta plus a -morelin).

Actually, I'm getting a CBC/chem/lipid panel done with my regular doctor this week. There's nothing in my history.

One thing that pulls me toward Reta is that with 3 different MOAs, I figure you could take less of each of the 3 to get the same outcomes and maybe end up with fewer side effects? Kind of like multimodal anesthesia.

When it comes to reta, the glucagon part isn't mainly there to shed pounds, though it can lend a hand in preventing your metabolism from tanking during a calorie deficit. One way it manages this is by pushing up heart rate and raising body temperature. The main action, however, is telling your liver to burn lipids—a big plus for fatty liver and cholesterol problems. If shedding fat is what you're after, tirz or particularly tirz+elora works really well.

I've dropped ~50 lbs using reta—it truly does work well—but for me, the higher heart rate has gotten old.
