Hey all!

I'm based in the UK, 31M, and for basically all of my adult years I've dealt with morbid obesity. Fed up with it, I began Tirz 7 months back, following another 7 months of trying to shed weight the natural way. With Tirz I dropped 40kg, and 10kg came off without it, so it's clearly working for me.

Weight lifting is something I really enjoy, been at it for at least 5 years, though only lately have I grasped how progressive overload actually functions. Reta interests me since I'm after more strength and muscle, and I'm wondering whether the calorie deficit from Tirz is holding that back. Still, since starting Tirz I have put on muscle overall.

Right now I'm 132kg (began at 182kg), and my ultimate goal is 90kg-100kg so I can be both healthy and lean. I've read that Reta aids muscle growth, so I'm eager to find out more on that front and to meet some of you fine folks!

Welcome!

Whether retatrutide truly "helps muscle growth" is something I'm not sure about. Still, it has a following among gymbros who don't carry much excess fat to begin with. The reason: compared with tirzepatide or semaglutide, it tends to blunt appetite less, yet it still pushes the body to drop fat.

For people like us who have dealt with overweight, obesity, and metabolic syndrome more broadly, having food noise and an oversized appetite quieted down (which is what tirzepatide does) is something to be grateful for, and frequently it's required to get back to good health.

Assuming you map out your meals, make certain you take in plenty of protein, and keep drinking water throughout the day, my guess is that your progressive overload training will pay off nicely. You won't be stuck in the kind of harsh calorie deficit that fasting would put you in. That isn't the mechanism this drug uses.

It isn't about building muscle — the point is keeping muscle from being lost, provided you prioritize protein and do resistance training.

Reta appeals to the gym bros (a group I don't belong to) since it lets them hold their weight steady during a bulking cycle.

Thanks to you both, I value the welcome and the clarification. So, is it your shared view that Reta would protect my muscle to a greater extent than Tirz? Yet Tirz works better when it comes to suppressing appetite?
