Hi everyone — I'm brand new around here, and peptides are a total unknown to me as well. Right now I'm easing into it rather than rushing, while soaking up as much info as I can and getting ready to kick off Reta alongside a gradual increase in how much I move.

By demographics: male, somewhere in the middle-to-late part of life, roughly 6'3", and currently 285lbs. At the beginning of this year I was at my heaviest ever — 300lbs — so that's where I've come down from.

When I was younger I'd sometimes carry extra weight (usually hovering near ~200lbs), though back then adjusting what I ate was enough to keep it in check. Things shifted as I got older: Covid came along and completely upended my whole working situation. I've now spent 6+ years working from home, which means far less movement. Seeing the scale hit 3-bills hit me hard — it was a clear signal that I needed to finally sort out my habits for good and find a way to be more active (consistency is still a struggle, but I'm not making excuses, just pushing ahead).

My wife got a prescription for Ozempic, and while I was looking into what that actually was, I ended up coming across Reta — so that's how I got here.

Beginning gradually is a wise approach. Whenever you come across accounts of individuals enduring negative outcomes, those accounts don't come from folks who ease in slowly — they tend to come from the impatient or 'more is better' crowd.

Another PNW local here saying hi. Wishing you well as you get started. This forum holds a wealth of knowledge. Look up whatever you're wondering about before posting, feel free to speak up, and stay safe!

I'm in much the same situation. Peptides are new to me too, though it didn't take long to notice how easy it is to get hooked on ordering and then watching the tracking updates! Since Covid I've been remote as well, but this coming Monday marks our full-time return to the office. I'm not convinced I'm prepared for that!

Everyone's results can vary, but for me reta came with a major stall right when I began. Getting past it required serious effort — sticking to my diet, exercising, adding thyroid-support supplements such as selenium, and increasing the dose step by step until I reached 6mg — before anything substantial changed.

If you're not very active and you're older, it might be 2 months before your body stops treating this like a temporary thing and finally begins dropping weight you can actually notice.

Being older and living a sedentary lifestyle are obstacles that are maddeningly hard to push past.

That matches my situation perfectly. The first 15lbs came off fast, but then I hit a wall that lasted 3 weeks. I've been getting in more walks and doing some lifting a few days each week, and just a few days back the scale finally moved again — another pound gone as of this morning. Planning to bump up to 4mg of reta today.
