Hey everyone,

I haven't done one of these intro posts on any forum in ages, honestly, but this seems like a good reason to break that streak.

A bit about me: 35 years old, male, 174cm tall, currently sitting at 81kg.

My weight loss journey has been going on for 15 months now. For the first 14 of those months I did it the "standard" way — counting calories, aiming for a minimum of 10k steps daily, and getting to the gym 3-4 times per week. That approach paid off and I dropped 38kg within the first 12 months (roughly 83.5 lbs). Then I stalled for a couple of months; the scale basically refused to budge. The main culprit was that staying in a deficit became really tough — mentally exhausting — and eating under 2000-2200kcal a day was a struggle. I also started pushing harder at the gym, which probably contributed.

About a month back I figured I'd give GLPs a shot to see whether they'd actually quiet the food noise, so I bought Mounjaro. So far it's been excellent, and my weight has begun trending down again over the past month. I'm now 42kg down (just about 92.5 lbs). It feels amazing — even just the 2.5mg dose has been enough to keep me under 1750kcal daily while I'm still adding weight and reps to my lifts at the gym.

Right now my target is 75kg, and once I get there I'll reassess whether I need to shed a bit more — possibly down to 70kg — before kicking off a reeaaaly slow bulk.

For the moment I'm staying at 2.5mg of Mountjaro since, as I mentioned, it's doing the job and I don't feel the need to increase. I've still got another 5mg pen that should carry me through to the end of July, and after that I'm planning to move over to Reta, mostly for cost reasons — the 5mg Mounjaro pen here ran about 260€, and I'm not keen on shelling that out every 2 months.

That's pretty much everything, happy to be here!

Fantastic job. Well done! At that weight, there's no need to move up to a higher dose either. My own path started with MJ 2.5mg, then after a month I went to 5mg. Over 7 months I stayed at that level, and 1 month ago I began a maintenance dose of 3,3 mg Tirz, then 3 days ago I dropped to 2 mg. So far no problems and no hunger noise. Reta is something you could try. For me, though, it didn't work well. MJ has worked for you, and in my view Tirz is the better route for maintenance. Your body responds well to it. If it can, it must also adjust to Reta. If something is already working, why switch? I did it only out of curiosity and ended up regretting it: no weight loss for 2 weeks and 3 days of severe diarrhea at the end. Tirz is actually Mounjaro. But cheaper than mounjaro and reta. At grey market prices, you can buy enough tirz for a 3 years supply for what 1 month of Mounjaro costs.

Appreciate it 🙂

Yep, I'm aware Tirz is Mounjaro, and so far it's been working great for me. My initial idea was to get Tirz through the grey market, but not every provider ships to where I am (I'm located in the Canary Islands, Spain, and a few refuse to deliver here), and the vendor I came across who had a EU werehouse only stocked Reta, so that's the route I took.

That said, I'll keep an eye out in case they start carrying Tirz, since I've still got close to two months of Mountjaro left (I picked up a 5mg pen, though I intend to stay at 2.5mg weekly).

From what I've come across, folks tend to have comparable results with Tirz and Reta, with Tirz's advantage being stronger food noise suppression compared to Reta, while Reta burns additional calories.

So is moving from Tirz over to Reta not such a simple thing?

There are folks who say moving over to reta turned out to be the greatest choice they ever made. For me, though, that wasn't how it went. The one thing most people seem to agree on is that reta brings more hunger noise than tirz does. While I was on tirz for over 6 months, I never had any hunger noise at all. With reta, though, it showed up right away. I had to fight it the whole time. Even so, across 2 weeks of using it, my weight didn't move up or down. After 3 days of severe diarrhea I went back to tirz, and everything returned to how it was before. I'm not saying tirz beats reta. Right now you already know tirz is working well for you, and your weight isn't at a point where you need to go hunting for something better. It's different for every person. It might work far better in your case. Or it could leave you disappointed. There's no way to know what's ahead.

Finding a Chinese supplier willing to ship to the Canary Islands should be easy. It's part of the EU, and all of them ship to EU territory. Just check suppliers by going through reviews.

I appreciate you telling us how it went for you — that really gives me something useful to work with. As things stand, I'll keep an eye out and try to track down Tirz before my current supply runs out 🙂
