Greetings from Portland.
I came to this site hoping to learn what a GLP1 journey actually looks like for the people who go through it.
Background: I played college sports, and at this point I could stand to drop 80 lbs. I'm a big guy — my ideal fighting weight would probably be around 285. That number may sound high, but at 6'4" with a 60" chest and an NFL sized frame, I can't picture myself ever going under it.
There are things I'm uneasy about, and I'm hoping to dig into them through posts here and with the group's guidance. What I'm interested in:
1. Does using a GLP1 amount to abandoning the hard work that weight loss otherwise demands?
2. Could I pull this off alone by just committing to fewer calories, healthier eating, and more consistent exercise? Is that route lazy, or is it cheating the hard work?
3. Is there a way to take a GLP1 and still enjoy the same foods, just without wanting them in the same amounts?
4. Tied to #3 — the idea that I might stop enjoying food frightens me. Being honest with myself, is that fear itself a sign of why I need to lose 80#?
Good to meet all of you.
