Hi everyone. After about 2 weeks of reading without posting, I decided to finally register. I'm a 37M, and my goal is simply to get into better shape. Around 5 years ago, carnivore took me from 290 down to 190, yet my cholesterol climbed past 600, so I'm after a different approach now. After that, I ended up back at 290, and this morning I'm down 15 from there! Everyone here has seemed really welcoming while I was lurking, so I'm looking forward to picking up more.

Hey D2. A few years back I did strict carnivore (BBBE plus water) for 3 months. Strange as it sounds, my cholesterol went down across the board. Trygs landed in the green. No more joint pain, no more brain fog. The problem was I couldn't get my family on board, so eventually I gave in. Those 3 months were the best I've ever felt, haha. These days I still put protein ahead of carbs. Wishing you luck here!

Does Philly really deserve its bad reputation?

Reta works wonders. You don't have to bother with all those fad diets—just keep an eye on what you eat and your portion sizes, and the pounds come off. Going from 190 all the way back up to 290 is terrible. You've got a condition and you need ozempic 🤣

Good that you're hopping back on now. Being at 290 is rough. I'm 27m, dropped roughly 27lbs in the past 9 weeks with nothing but cardio and diet.

Welcome aboard!

To start, nice work on the 15 pounds you've already dropped. That's a solid beginning. And 290 down to 190 is a serious feat as well. Sure, you may have regained part of that along the way, but you've shown yourself it's possible.

It seems like you bring a lot of know-how and drive to the table, so the trick now is landing on something you can stick with over the long term. You've landed among a solid crowd here to pick up tips from and swap thoughts with.

Happy you came out of lurking and said hello. Can't wait to watch what you achieve!

Judging Philly is hard for me—I've lived in its rougher corners for most of my life lol. There are certainly good spots and not-so-good ones!

Since I spent most of my life wrestling and playing football, I've always been a "shape shifter," though back then it was roughly 225 down to 170 each year, so the swings weren't as extreme. Those 100lbs came across 5 years in a toxic relationship, with very little motivation.

Glad to be back at it!

Thanks for the encouraging words!

Over the years I've certainly done plenty of shape shifting, or yo-yoing. I'm hoping to land on something more stable for the long term, and it's great that so many knowledgeable folks are here, so perhaps I'll finally reach that goal.

Welcome! I’m also new and posted my intro not long ago.

To start, great job on dropping 15 pounds already - that’s fantastic. And wow, 290 down to 190 is a huge achievement, even if keeping it off was hard. It sounds like you’ve figured out a lot about what suits your body and what doesn’t.

I’m eager to learn with everyone here too. So far, this community seems really supportive and full of knowledge. Best of luck on your path, and I’m excited to see where it leads you this time!
