Happy to have found this place. Going at this alone made me anxious, but then this forum came along.

Overeating and depression brought on 50 pounds that won’t budge. Because I’m not “there yet,” doctors refuse to prescribe. I’m fighting hard to keep from getting “there.”

I appreciate how honest everyone is and how willing you all are to support each other.

Glad you made it to the board. If 50 lbs have been put on, it seems like the medicine would be within reach for you, so "doctors" refusing to prescribe is puzzling unless there's something else going on. Buying the medicine on your own is an option, but regardless of where it comes from, I strongly suggest getting bloodwork and having a doctor guide you through it. This board holds plenty of information, yet no two people's circumstances are the same. Look into it, pose your questions, and speak up for your own health, even if that means seeking out a doctor who listens more openly.
