Hey all. After roughly a week of reading without posting, I went ahead and signed up rather than stay a lurker.
My GLP-1 path began not long ago, once I'd weighed it over through a bunch of one-on-one chats and seeing what others got out of it.
I'd just begun with a different primary care provider, and once more I went through the whole please help me lose weight talk. Both the one I had before and this new one brought up the big brand name injections and the price tag attached. The new one pushed it further, saying "I know it's not cheap, but it could change your life for the better... think of it as... it's only $$$ per week. Not the $$$$ per month." I came really close to saying yes. That idea kept churning in my head until I felt anxious and sick over it. Zepbound was going to be my start.
A surprising number of people in my circle, it turns out, are quietly using GLP-1's sourced from somewhere or other, across different generations and by different routes.
So I leaned on my ADHD hyperfixation and went all in on GLP-1 research, and settled on beginning Retatrutide. My reasoning (possibly not the best) goes "FDA be damned, I literally watch people get sick from contaminated product all the time, food or pharmaceuticals. I don't need their permission." If I want extra peace of mind, I'll get my drugs tested. My wife and I had a lengthy discussion, and the two of us agreed to start Retatrutide together.
Because the cost would be far lower, we both entered the "research" world prior to going fully gray, mainly to find out whether it would work at all.
Happily, it's working incredibly well. So far we've each dropped 6lbs.
Food has never felt so unappealing to me. It's not haunting me anymore, I'm not wondering when the next meal comes or what it'll be. Now I actually have to remind myself to eat, and that extra step lets me put the proteins and the better food choices I need first.
As for the G.I. side effects (pain, bloating, nausia, etc.), neither of us has them. What we have seen are the delays, at times stretching to 2 days between movements, which is more of an observation than any real issue.
Thanks to this forum, my next order is already in, and I'm eager to keep going on this journey.
