Hi everyone,
I have been lurking here for a while, and now it is time to actually say hello.
Age 36, living in Germany, married, two children who are both under 5, plus a dog that honestly gets a more consistent training schedule than I do. On the work side, I am a co-owner and operator of several gyms and a restaurant. The irony is not lost on me. My days are spent moving between squat racks and kitchen pass-throughs.
That mix is pretty much where my story starts. Serious training has been part of most of my adult years, and nutrition is not unfamiliar territory, but the last several years of growing the business left marks: long hours, eating whenever a gap appeared, plenty of stress eating, and hospitality food always within reach. A bad week was something I could always out-train. A bad year was not. I went through several real cutting phases, each time got the weight down, and each time watched it return as soon as the next work crisis landed.
What has happened so far: sema was my starting point last December at 106 kg. May was when I moved to reta, and for the last 2 weeks I have stayed at 10 mg. Today the scale says 92 kg, which means 14 kg lost in total. The goal is 83 kg, and I will be upfront about why: I want to see abs for the first time in roughly 10 years. Willpower is not what shifted for me. What shifted is that the nonstop background noise about food went silent.
2 honest things I have noticed since switching. First, appetite suppression feels subjectively weaker than it was on sema, even though I know the mechanism differs and the scale judges better than my hunger signals do. Second, my sleep has clearly gotten worse. I have started tracking resting heart rate and am reading about whether the glucagon component is the likely cause.
Training and body composition count more to me than the scale number, so resistance work stays at 3 to 4 sessions per week and protein stays high, currently targeting 250 to 300 g per day, which is a logistical challenge of its own when appetite is suppressed.
Things I hope to learn here: how others deal with sleep disruption, what the final stretch is like when you are already fairly lean, how lean mass holds up, and what maintenance really looks like afterward.
Things I can offer: a practical background in training programming and gym operations. I am glad to help with anything related to training or habits.
I have gone through the rules and the new member guide. No source talk from me. Looking forward to the discussions.
