Just about 40. I'm in the gym 5-6 days each week

Not long ago I had chest surgery, which took me out of the gym for several months and really slowed down my weight loss. I'd dropped from 220lbs down to 195lbs, and since then I've gained 10lbs back.

This year I want to make genuine progress before hitting 40. My goal is to be in the best shape of my life at 40. Forget mid-life crises, I'm here to get healthy again.

Hey, another Georgian here.

We're on similar paths, though I'm more than 12 years older than you. I really wish Reta had existed back when I was nearing 40. Whatever GLP you end up starting, lifting is a must; it doesn't need to be heavy weight, but skipping it means the weight you lose will be taken right out of your muscle. Wishing you the best.

At minimum, I'm hitting the gym 5 days each week and taking my lifts to failure

Muscle gain isn't the problem for me — the real struggle is that eating at maintenance or a bit over comes naturally, while dropping weight is the hard part 🤣

Began reta 3.5 weeks back:

1mg

1.5mg

2mg

2.5mg

That's the titration schedule I've followed up to this point. Once I took the 2.5mg shot, even glancing at food feels like a struggle.

My weight at the start: 212.5

Right now the scale shows 199

2mg per week is what I began with 2 weeks ago, and Friday marks shot number 3.

During week 1 I dealt with a 'food in my craw' sensation the entire time, though it has since improved. If I push myself, I can certainly eat more than I currently do, but real hunger and stomach growling haven't shown up at all since I began, and the urge to binge has disappeared. My plan is to hold at 2mg until I go 2 or more weeks without seeing it work, but I'm in the gym 6x a week and I've finally gotten my calories down, averaging 1300-1500 daily while leaning mostly keto/carnivore and aiming to keep Protein at 150g a day minimum. So far 12 lbs are gone, roughly 6 per week.

Through most of the week I'll hold pretty steady, then at some point 4-6lbs will vanish overnight, which is really odd. Still, if a lower dose is giving you a good response, there's no reason to titrate up... A few times I've gotten a wave of nausea while at the gym (my usual routine is working out fasted in the morning before breakfast)

For 3.5 weeks your loss looks good! I still have a good 70-80 to go, and losing faster is great, but I'd rather not sacrifice muscle or bone density by pushing my weight loss to the max.

Under a month in, and I've moved up to 4mg with my latest injection

This morning the scale showed 189, so that's 10lbs more gone since I last checked in on this sub

Being in the 180's is something I haven't seen in roughly 20 years

My eventual target is 170, though the nearer aim is 180-185 by the time I hit 40 in 3 weeks
