INTRO Hello from Boston

tcpnomad, glad you found your way here — this is a solid thread to start with.

Regarding the wording that you and makewayhomer are working out: tcpnomad's take is correct. The peptide itself is tirzepatide. Whether you're talking about the Mounjaro pen, a compounded preparation, or research-grade lyophilized powder, it's the same molecule in every case. The differences come down to how it's regulated and where it's sourced. The pen is a finished product with FDA approval. Compounded versions use an FDA approved active ingredient, put together by a state-licensed 503A pharmacy under a prescription. Research-grade is strictly for laboratory use.

When insurance won't pay for Mounjaro, going through 503A compounding is currently the workaround most people use. rkbleddyn is doing exactly that at $300 per month. If your family member hasn't tried that option yet, it may be worth exploring.

Hoping to pick up knowledge here about GLP-1 peptides, plus things such as Selank, Semax and DSIP. Right now I'm using Mounjaro. A family member's GLP-1 medications aren't covered by insurance, so I'm searching for alternatives on their behalf.

Tonight will be my first attempt with DSIP.
Oh - I'd really like to know how it goes for you. Does DSIP work quickly, or does it take a while?
The effects of DSIP hit right away, but you won't feel them until you're already sleeping. My routine is to pin DSIP 15-30 minutes prior to drifting off, which in my case means once the lights are already off.

I'd be grateful if you could tell me how it went for you. DSIP is something I'm genuinely curious about, and I'm also looking at Selank to help with my anxiety. Thanks.
Daytime DSIP isn't something I've ever tested, so I have no basis to claim it helps with anxiety.

A vendor screw-up meant my DSIP cost me nothing. My honest take: paying for it is a waste.

My starting amount was 600mcg, injected pre-sleep. Roughly 8-10 minutes post-injection there was a faint immediate change in how I perceived things. Sort of resembling the tranquility that washes over you just before sleep takes hold.

By the second dose this was much weaker, and from then on it vanished entirely.

The quality of sleep, however, was fantastic, with wild vivid dreams throughout the night and somewhat deeper rest. Pairing it with melatonin and B6 before bed made it even better. Just be sure to jot the dreams down, since it won't do anything to help you recall them.

Tolerance appeared fast, so I kept raising the amount, eventually reaching 1.5mg. Past roughly 800mcg, I'd describe some grogginess in the morning.

I'm happy to have it, yet for actually getting to sleep it's essentially no help, and I'd never tell anyone to spend money on it unless they've got $60 burning a hole for curiosity's sake.

Epithalon, by contrast, has been fantastic, and my sleep schedule has gotten dramatically better, which is striking given that I still scroll on my phone in bed, never tidy the bed, and so on. I'm getting to sleep much earlier now. 0.5mg each evening. A common approach some people take is 20 days on followed by 10 days off.

Once the epithalon runs out, my plan is to experiment with 500mcg DSIP on alternate nights for a stretch, to see whether that initial magic can be brought back.
Is nasal use an option for Epithalon, or does it have to be subq?
It's possible to use it by mouth. The only reason I'm aware of this is that my Dr. administers it that way and strongly believes in it for sleep. I've got the injectable version, though I haven't given it a go so far. The nasal version hasn't crossed my path.

Semax has worked really well in my case. It leaves me feeling quite focused and calm. About 5 weeks in, I'm now going to pause it. Selank was something else I tried, though for me the results with Semax are much stronger.

Tirzepatide is also part of my routine, but the side effects hit me pretty hard. On my 3rd week I dropped from 2.5 down to 1.5, and things appear to be improving. Since I pay out of pocket, my Dr. has it compounded. Name brands such as Mounjaro run over 1K when you pay cash. My cost is $300.
The side effects are genuinely rough. In my experience, micro dosing is non-negotiable. Start at 0.5mg every few days, then gradually increase. For me, Reta was far worse than tirz: a 3mg dose leaves me tired, with cold-like symptoms, a runny nose, and very sensitive skin.

I gave selank a shot via subQ, though I never followed any structured schedule. Across 4-5 administrations, nothing stood out to me, which differs from my experience with things like motsc or dsip. People say the intranasal route works better, but I wouldn't stress about that. My suggestion would be to pick up the NA Amidate form. I get that you want to experiment with everything, but keep expectations modest.

For my anxiety, daily exercise plus epithalon for sleep has made a real difference. Another option is pairing a pregnenolone supplement with etifoxine, which encourages gabaergic neurosteroids. On its own, pregnenolone seemed to help me, I believe, but I stopped it because I wanted to give HCG a try.

Many users describe anxiety going down after a cerebrolysin course, and less so with related compounds such as cortagen, pinealon, or cortexin.

I've also come across reports of anxiety relief tied to ISRIB.

That said, the single biggest anxiety reducer is eliminating prescription stimulants, caffeine, and nicotine, fixing screen time and sleep patterns, working out, and using supplements that support a healthy methylation cycle (donors such as tmg and methylfolate, plus methyl sinks such as nicotinic acid, NAD, and glycine). Taurine is another solid choice for lowering anxiety. Pantothenic acid can't hurt either.

My main goals are actually keeping anxiety in check and improving my sleep quality. I'm completely ddfree otherwise—coffee isn't even something I enjoy. That said, I'll admit my diet leaves a lot to be desired since I'm quite a picky eater. Now that I've hit my 40s, it's become clear that I should be taking better care of myself. I began Tz roughly 5 weeks back, currently at the 5mg dose, and I've dropped around 8-9lbs up to this point.

Going on anti-anxiety prescriptions isn't something I'm eager to pursue; I'd rather see what peps can do. In my view, they come with fewer long-term side effects than what the pharmaceutical route offers.

A funny thing that came out of spending 10 years as a serious drug addict and digging into the science behind it. Ended up with a fresh hobby that scratches the same itch. Back then all I wanted was a drug that would repair me, and once that never materialized, I quit trying.

These days, drugs that actually repair you exist! That is everything I ever hoped for 🤣

The effects of DSIP hit right away, but you won't feel them until you're already sleeping. My routine is to pin DSIP 15-30 minutes prior to drifting off, which in my case means once the lights are already off.

Hoping to pick up knowledge here about GLP-1 peptides, plus things such as Selank, Semax and DSIP. Right now I'm using Mounjaro. A family member's GLP-1 medications aren't covered by insurance, so I'm searching for alternatives on their behalf.

How does Selank fit in? What has using it actually been like? Is your route Subq, or do you go nasal?

Nice work on the weight loss. Could have gone further, but you're 40. Maybe it's time to drop the dino nuggets and have some frozen veggies daily. I keep things easy: bananas, apples, frozen broccoli, prunes, and dates.

What's your exercise routine?

Right, anti-anxiety meds like benzos and calcium channel blockers aren't really viable.

I doubt western doctors would view anything I mentioned above as a medication. Etifoxine, perhaps? But it's not FDA approved in the US. Cerebrolysin is a polypeptide, though maybe it's seen as a medication in RU? I suppose you need to clarify what distinctions you're making if you objected to any of my suggestions on "pharma" grounds. Maybe I misread you, and if so, it's somewhat unfortunate that none of the most effective anxiety meds work as long-term solutions.

Are you male or female? In either case, hormones play a role. Pregnenolone + etifoxine works for both sexes, and as a menopausal woman or a man, T could help. If you're a man, HCG monotherapy is an option if needles scare you and you don't want to invest effort in learning about hormones.
