Hoping to pick up knowledge here about GLP-1 peptides, plus things such as Selank, Semax and DSIP. Right now I'm using Mounjaro. A family member's GLP-1 medications aren't covered by insurance, so I'm searching for alternatives on their behalf.

Semax has worked really well in my case. It leaves me feeling quite focused and calm. About 5 weeks in, I'm now going to pause it. Selank was something else I tried, though for me the results with Semax are much stronger.

Tirzepatide is also part of my routine, but the side effects hit me pretty hard. On my 3rd week I dropped from 2.5 down to 1.5, and things appear to be improving. Since I pay out of pocket, my Dr. has it compounded. Name brands such as Mounjaro run over 1K when you pay cash. My cost is $300.

Welcome! I'm relatively new around here myself, and the amount of fantastic information is huge. Plus, it's a really supportive community.

What's stopping you from using tirzepatide as a peptide?

I lack a supplier for that; it carries FDA approval. The peptide vendors I deal with don't stock FDA approved products. It's identical to what's in the pens, yet it comes from an FDA approved compounding pharmacy and requires a prescription, which I possess. Until the FDA prohibits it for compounding pharmacy use. The same will occur for Reta once it gains approval.

So, peptides covers all of them. Perhaps you're referring to the "raw lyophilized powder" version?

That's exactly what it is. The sole distinction is that my doctor prescribes it to me and I have a script. It's a peptide, identical to the grey market products, possibly with better quality and dose assurance—that's the only difference.

Oh - I'd really like to know how it goes for you. Does DSIP work quickly, or does it take a while?

I'd be grateful if you could tell me how it went for you. DSIP is something I'm genuinely curious about, and I'm also looking at Selank to help with my anxiety. Thanks.

yeah, so what I'm getting at is: what makes the $300/month worth it when the grey market has it for the same price covering a year or longer? I assumed that's the whole point of this place lol

That isn't quite right. A notable gap exists between the free-base API found in brand-name products and approved 503A/B compounders, versus the acetate/salt form present in grey market lyophilized goods. Still, as you suggest, for the person using it the distinction isn't all that large, as long as correct 3P testing protocol and sterility guidelines are maintained.

I'll do that. Semax has been really effective in my case — I just wrapped up 30 days, and now I'll take a break before cycling back on. I had planned to start DSIP yesterday evening, but my schedule was too packed and I never got around to reconstituting it, so that's on today's list. I'll report back on how it goes.

I'm also interested to hear how DSIP works out for you. From what I've come across, opinions split roughly 40/60 — 40% report an effect, while 60% notice nothing.

Based on what I've read, an excessive dose might simply leave you feeling unwell and could even block deep, restorative sleep. The times I've had the best results tend to follow this schedule...

-2h 30m before bed: NA Selank Amidate, subcutaneous. 600 mcg - 1200 mcg (depending on the amount of mental stress/self talk I have going on from the day) Usually I am in the middle of the dosing range.

-1h 15m before bed: DSIP, subcutaneous. 300 mcg if I need to be awake within 6.5 hours of bedtime, 400 mcg subcutaneous if you can sleep in.

Reminder: Hardest part is the falling asleep. DSIP won't do that part, Selank can help slightly. DSIP nearly doubled my REM/Deep Sleep though. I try to limit myself to 4-5 nights a week, for 6 weeks (then take 3 weeks off). I would say more than half of those nights, I get insanely good sleep. Like, for every 3 hours of sleep, 1-1.25 is REM/Deep. Used to be 15-30 minutes every 3 hours prior to my protocol.

The effects of DSIP hit right away, but you won't feel them until you're already sleeping. My routine is to pin DSIP 15-30 minutes prior to drifting off, which in my case means once the lights are already off.

Daytime DSIP isn't something I've ever tested, so I have no basis to claim it helps with anxiety.

A vendor screw-up meant my DSIP cost me nothing. My honest take: paying for it is a waste.

My starting amount was 600mcg, injected pre-sleep. Roughly 8-10 minutes post-injection there was a faint immediate change in how I perceived things. Sort of resembling the tranquility that washes over you just before sleep takes hold.

By the second dose this was much weaker, and from then on it vanished entirely.

The quality of sleep, however, was fantastic, with wild vivid dreams throughout the night and somewhat deeper rest. Pairing it with melatonin and B6 before bed made it even better. Just be sure to jot the dreams down, since it won't do anything to help you recall them.

Tolerance appeared fast, so I kept raising the amount, eventually reaching 1.5mg. Past roughly 800mcg, I'd describe some grogginess in the morning.

I'm happy to have it, yet for actually getting to sleep it's essentially no help, and I'd never tell anyone to spend money on it unless they've got $60 burning a hole for curiosity's sake.

Epithalon, by contrast, has been fantastic, and my sleep schedule has gotten dramatically better, which is striking given that I still scroll on my phone in bed, never tidy the bed, and so on. I'm getting to sleep much earlier now. 0.5mg each evening. A common approach some people take is 20 days on followed by 10 days off.

Once the epithalon runs out, my plan is to experiment with 500mcg DSIP on alternate nights for a stretch, to see whether that initial magic can be brought back.

Is nasal use an option for Epithalon, or does it have to be subq?

From what I've heard, nasal use gives better bioavailability, and that goes for DSIP, selank, and semax too.
