These last few years have taught me a lot, on several levels, for me, my cat*, and my family. I've always been someone who stays active, goes running, works out, and eats fairly well (no soda, juice, or fast food in 10+ years). Even with activity, calorie tracking, and macro watching, my weight has bounced around for quite a while. A few years ago I checked my A1C at work (it was part of an instrument-to-instrument correlation). Seeing 5.9 (pre-diabetes range) really surprised me. So I took a hard look at my workouts, my weight, my activity, my food, and calories. I managed to drop about 20lbs and bring my A1C down to 5.4 (my doctor tested it and wasn't concerned).
Since that "wake-up" call, my A1C and weight kept going up and down. My doctor changed, and the new one actually listened to me. I got on ozempic for 2 months before it was cut off, and they told me I didn't have a weight problem and my A1C was fine
.
After that I've been stuck at 1200 calories and miserable. Just over a month ago a friend brought up peptides. That opened up a whole new world of information, educational research, and the usual chaos of diving deep into a new topic.
At the end of May my A1C was 5.8. I began on 1mg of Reta, and now I'm at 2mg.
I'm glad to have found this group.
Thank you
*PS. Just to clarify, I am not using or looking to use peptides for my cat. I went on an educational journey for her as well. She has CKD.
