These last few years have taught me a lot, on several levels, for me, my cat*, and my family. I've always been someone who stays active, goes running, works out, and eats fairly well (no soda, juice, or fast food in 10+ years). Even with activity, calorie tracking, and macro watching, my weight has bounced around for quite a while. A few years ago I checked my A1C at work (it was part of an instrument-to-instrument correlation). Seeing 5.9 (pre-diabetes range) really surprised me. So I took a hard look at my workouts, my weight, my activity, my food, and calories. I managed to drop about 20lbs and bring my A1C down to 5.4 (my doctor tested it and wasn't concerned).

Since that "wake-up" call, my A1C and weight kept going up and down. My doctor changed, and the new one actually listened to me. I got on ozempic for 2 months before it was cut off, and they told me I didn't have a weight problem and my A1C was fine 😒.

After that I've been stuck at 1200 calories and miserable. Just over a month ago a friend brought up peptides. That opened up a whole new world of information, educational research, and the usual chaos of diving deep into a new topic.

At the end of May my A1C was 5.8. I began on 1mg of Reta, and now I'm at 2mg.

I'm glad to have found this group.

Thank you

*PS. Just to clarify, I am not using or looking to use peptides for my cat. I went on an educational journey for her as well. She has CKD.

Welcome aboard! May your path keep unfolding — that's where the enjoyment lies!

As for the Bay Area, I spent 14 months living in Gilroy and I certainly don't long for it. That said, from what I've been told, it's changed quite a bit nowadays!

Thanks! That means a lot.

What was Gilroy like? I have never stopped there, though I have passed it while heading to Monterey. That odor really stands out.

I moved here from the East Coast. My first couple of years in California were… curious, sort of like Florida with less flavor.

Gilroy was fine, apart from the odor. Though I've heard that odor has disappeared these days!

Should you pass through that area once more, give Pinocchio's Pizza a try. Great food and a really welcoming family-run establishment.
