Greetings from lovely Laughlin, NV — home of casinos and some very hot desert weather. Deborah here, and I'm delighted to have found this place. There's a great deal I can pick up from all of you.
I'm 67 years old, a Christian, a wife, and a mom to 6 cats.
Today marks 3 weeks since I began Wegovy. The main reason it was prescribed is stage 4 kidney disease, though losing weight would be a wonderful bonus. The scales say I'm down 8# so far, but my dr warned me not to look for results until roughly a month has passed.
My sense is that it's benefiting my kidneys and the inflammation. My pain level appears to have dropped.
By trade I'm a master mosaic artist and instructor, but my health forced me to sell my business recently.
7 months ago I curated a craft show, and afterward I ended up on bed rest, in too much pain to function. My chronic kidney disease, primary adrenal insufficiency (addisons disease) & sciatica all flared badly. Then, to keep things interesting, a stroke 4 months ago left me with vertigo. Wow, is that wild. If you don't need to walk or drive, it could almost be fun — casinos, cats, mountains, cactus and people all spinning around you and on top of themselves. Well, I tend to be easily amused, especially when I don't realize it's a medical issue.
Driving is off the table for me at the moment, but hopefully soon. Thank God, I'm doing so much better!
These days I serve as Activity Director for our HOA, which keeps me busy. As I mentioned, we have 6 cats, 2 rescues & 4 foster fails. Sometimes it's good to fail. We volunteer for an Animal Rescuse across the river in Arizona (about 6 miles).
Last week I had an experience with my wegovy that I'm praying wont be repeated. Roughly 4 hours after my injected i got severe pain right below my right rib. I inject in my thigh, I was told not to do it in the belly. The pain continued for a little over 48 hours. Unfortunately my dr couldn't be reached. We had severe flooding here and their office had ceiling tiles falling in & water everywhere so they are shut down until its cleaned up and repairs are made.
Isn't my life interesting? Despite the chronic health issues I've been so blessed with an amazing husband, supportive friends & family & God's Grace. I love my life and can't wait to get to know you, learn from you & share our journey.
