Hey Everyone,
I'm here to figure out whether retatutride and the other GLP-1 agonists are actually worth it. Why? Because I want to shed weight and get back into shape.
I put on roughly 10kg of total mass recently, probably a mix of fat gain and muscle loss, and now I want to make a deliberate effort to get properly fit.
I've trained since around 16 — combat sports and weights — and I'm 28 now. Despite all that time training, I cycle endlessly between phases of effort with diet and fitness and phases of not caring and being lazy about sports and the gym. I'm clearly in the second phase right now. Currently I'm around 97kg at 182cm, and I'd put myself at roughly 20-25% body fat.
I was training consistently before Christmas: benching around 100-110 for reps, squatting 140, leg pressing 280kg, deadlifting 160kg, dumbbell shoulder press around 30kg. So I was going well, yet I never came close to my end goal of 80kg lean (I reached 88kg and maybe 18% body fat). These days my clothes are tighter around the waist than a few months back, I'm less fit and weaker, and honestly I'm unhappier for it.
Something has to change. The question is whether I go back to training and tracking macros in a deficit, brute forcing it with willpower again, or whether I look at a GLP-1 agonist?
Binge eating is a real struggle for me, even though it leaves me feeling like shit. I've a big appetite and I can brute force my way through it, but it drains so much mental energy daily. A jab that suppresses hunger — and with reta, ramps up energy expenditure and fat breakdown — sounds hugely appealing, right up until I consider the following
Thank you

A jab that suppresses hunger — and with reta, ramps up energy expenditure and fat breakdown — sounds hugely appealing, right up until I consider the following
- I'd have to keep it in the fridge where others can see it
- Inject it, when I've never injected anything
- Reconstitute it (which as far as I understand is a form of titration to a dose)
- Weigh up the potential side effects, given it isn't clinically approved
- All of which I'd have to explain to anyone who asks
- Consider that the data suggests people regain the weight once they come off GLP-1 agonists.
Thank you
