Hello everyone in the GLP1Chat Community,

John here. Athletics has been part of my entire life, I'm an avid biohacker, and I work as an experimental personal development research expert. Across roughly 20 years, I've been fortunate enough to try many different ergogenic enhancements in pursuit of holistic health and wellness.

When it comes to GLP-1s, my initial trial involved semaglutide (gray source) in 2023. Combined with metformin, that protocol helped me launch a dramatic cut, going from 265 all the way down to around 180. Honestly, the process wasn't a struggle, and I didn't experience intense or particularly out-of-the-ordinary side effects beyond what's typical. What I recall is that the sema made staying fully compliant with my diet far simpler and quieted the distractions created by chances to overeat. Being exact is tough looking back, but my best estimate is that I used the Sema for about 6 months prior to traveling to Playa Del Carmen, Mexico, to collect my cut from the beach.

During 2024-2025, some of that weight did return, yet I mostly kept myself under 222 (a goal dating back to my HS sports days). Then, by fall 2025, things began to slide once more, and my weight moved from around 195 in September up past 230. Before I began Retatrutide, my peak weight was 238.

As of now, I've been on Reta for approximately the past 4 weeks. Week 1 started at .750 x 2, totaling 1.5 mg, then I increased to .750 x 3, totaling 2.225 mg, for the next several weeks, and this week I moved up to 1.5 x 2, totaling 3 mg. Appetite suppression/blunting showed up right away. Eating was never a problem for me on Reta, and I never felt excessively full, but overall, as with Sema, I found it very easy to stay completely compliant with my diet and felt no pull toward snacking, drinking, or straying.

Progress on the scale has been a bit slow during these first weeks, with 1-5 pounds coming and going multiple times, yet all told I'm 7-8 lbs down so far, I appear a bit leaner/better in the mirror, and my mindset is positive. I just finished another transaction with a trusted sponsor here and am eager to experiment with higher RETA doses soon, since I believe 4-8 mg will produce stronger results.

Appreciate the motivation! For years my results with fitness, health, and wellness objectives went up and down, but GLP-1's turned out to be the breakthrough answer that finally let me cement stronger routines and habits.

A while back, the mere thought of counting calories that obsessively, staying on diets through life's highs and lows, and opting for better choices instead of drinking and overindulging was nowhere near as simple.

IMO, even with the flood of extra behind-the-scenes, internal, quantifiable advantages these meds bring, what drives me most is the understated yet unmistakable effect they have on how I relate to food, how I see myself, and how fulfilled I feel overall.

Hey John, glad you're here! Your story was a great read. I'm also a lifelong athlete. I never carried more than 10lbs of extra weight at any point in my life. Then menopause hit, and over the past 2-3 years I gradually gained until I was 15lbs over my ideal weight.

Just like you, I'm on 3mg reta, and I began by splitting it into smaller doses. What I found is that splitting Reta truly does not work. It has to accumulate in your body. Each week's dose stacks on top of the previous one. The moment I simply moved to 1x/week using the same total weekly amount I had been splitting, the weight started coming off. Before you raise your dose, I'd strongly suggest giving that a try.

Hi,

I'm popping in because I've been thinking about whether to divide my doses. This weekend I planned to move up from 2mg to 4mg. It's been 4 weeks at 2mg for me. So far I've dropped 11lbs. A podcast I was just listening to covered the split dose theory. From what was said, splitting seems to reduce side effects and keeps levels steadier. My idea would be to take 4mg as 2mg twice a week. It looks like the discussion and studies are still open and individual. Anyway, GP, thanks for sharing what you went through.

Which GLP are you taking? Are you dealing with unpleasant side effects that you're attempting to counterbalance, yet still require a larger dose to continue losing weight? If you dropped 11lbs, then 2mg seems to be doing a fantastic job for you! What makes you think the dose needs to go up? Really, the only time you ought to raise it is when it becomes necessary. In the study, they pushed patients upward quickly so that various participant groups could reach different dose levels, which allowed researchers to examine the outcomes.

Hello, I appreciate the conversation. My path involves Reta. The 4mg dose and the glucagon aspect "kicking in" had me wondering. Bad side effects never hit me. My aim was more about smoothing out the highs and lows from the dose.

In the end I remained at 2 mg. Over 4 weeks I dropped 16.8lbs. Also, these past few days, the "steady state" of 2mg is something I truly sense.

That's amazing!! 16.8lbs, incredible!! 🙌🏼 Right, it takes a month for it to accumulate in your system. If you split the dose, you'd need to raise the dose for it to accumulate. That's pointless.

Congrats once more. You've got to be over the moon!
