Hello all,
Glad to be here. I'm in my early 40’s — a diabetic that's currently well managed — and for more than 15 years I've lived with a chronic, inflammatory and progressive spinal condition, through which I had children with my husband. All of that is fair reason for weight to creep on. Gut trouble is part of the inflammatory picture for me as well, so it's always something I weigh up when making decisions.
Which means the last several years have been a battle, swinging anywhere from 20-60 lbs over. Bit by bit I've been working out better ways to look after my health, since I have a habit of putting myself last on the list. Plenty of you will know how that goes. What I'm aiming at: reversing the diabetes, reaching a healthy weight, living near enough to pain free, and being able to run, dance and play with my kids without discomfort.
Not long ago GLP1 treatment gave me strong results — Ozempic, then a switch to Monjauro when the insurance changed. My best point came at 20 lbs over; I never quite landed at a “healthy weight” because of things outside my control, though my body clearly did better the more physically active I was - less pain and easier movement. At times my approved pharmacies have struggled to fill my Rx on time, blaming stock issues and so on. Then there was a gap for gallbladder surgery and other procedures, etc, where the medication had to pause for short stretches here and there.
I've made real progress working out which anti-inflammatory foods suit me and settling into an exercise routine that holds up. A half marathon got ticked off recently — not easy, and not my best time - but it was a step in the right direction and a PR for me. I want to chase new PR's, for as long as I can show my children and myself that hard things are doable even with adversity or disability in the way.
Peptides have been on my radar for the past year. There's a lot more for me to take in, and I'm pleased to be here doing exactly that.
This stack has done a lot for me:
-Retatrutide
-BPC157
-ghkcu
Any guidance from the gurus here would be very welcome on this journey. So many of you have it all worked out, and even those still learning carry experience worth hearing. Grateful for a platform that hands people their life back.
