Hey all.

Angélique here — 43 years old, French, though I've been living in French-speaking Canada (Québec) since 2009.

My reta journey began 3 days ago. The 1st shot was 2mg, and my plan is to stick with slow titration every 4 weeks (or longer if the scale keeps moving down).

Before anything else: apologies for my rough english — I'm not fluent, but my comprehension is solid. Sorry if it's painful to read.

I came across this forum on reddit.

Current weight: 119 kg. Goal: around 80ish.

Back in 2007 in France I had bariatric surgery — a gastric band — and dropped roughly 50 kg. I was much younger then, and honestly it was far easier. I could have picked either the band or a bypass, and I chose the band, which turned out to be the worst decision I've ever made. By 2010 I couldn't keep anything down and the pain was unbearable. Emergency surgery followed, and the band came out because it had slipped across my stomach.

So from 2010 onward my weight swung up and down a lot, and I put back on close to 40 kilos.

Neither my private insurance nor the provincial one pays for obesity medication.

While going through various studies, I learned about Reta and the option of purchasing it for reseach intend.

I paid 250 $can for my 1st 30 mg vial. That's way more than what others seem to pay.

So I'm here to learn and to share my journey.

Really glad I found this forum — back in 2007 I belonged to a french forum about bariatric surgery, and it helped me enormously.

Looking forward to reading everything here.

Hey Angélique, Julie here — 44, based in Montreal, and reta is 2 weeks into my routine now. Let's be friends 😆
