Spent months reading up on reta, and that path brought me to this place. My goal is to drop some weight with reta, and I figure on running it for just 5-6 months, progress permitting, simply to build some momentum. Hopefully this forum can steer me the right way at last.

Haha… I'd guess a good number of us ended up here thanks to gatekeeping. This stuff isn't cheap… Once I hit my goal weight, I still intend to keep using Reta for the long haul, simply because of everything else it does for your health.

I get it. I could end up doing the same, though chances are I'll only rely on it long enough to start calisthenics and keep up a healthier way of living.
 
I've seen that this community does its own form of gatekeeping too, and it seems intentional. Given what everyone's here for, I can't really say I'm against it. After all, there has to be a method for keeping out the bots, spammers, and scammers. I spent a few weeks lurking prior to signing up, and I picked up a fair amount before I finally made the decision to join and start posting.

The level of gatekeeping I've run into on other platforms is honestly wild. That said, I can see why it happens on sites like Reddit — keep your sources to yourself and never ask, otherwise your inbox gets flooded by scammers. Trying to find your way through it feels like dodging landmines.
