Hey everyone,
For the past 20 years I've tried diets, workouts, and everything I could think of. None of it worked — I kept failing to get healthy or feel at ease in my own body.
Like my title says: 50s is the new 40s.
I'm turning things around, and I've already begun.
More than a year back, I began using one of the GLP1 brands, but my doctor would only give me 2 months. That didn't do much. This year, my health insurance stopped covering any GLP1 prescription entirely. Nice, right?
Food used to be my comfort, and the weight kept piling on.
I was angry at my doctor, the insurance company, and everyone in between.
With prices climbing and me stuck both mentally and financially, I chose to give it another shot. Paying out of pocket, I went through a telehealth provider for a 3 months treatment that I began in mid May.
As of today, I'm down almost 16 months on Tirzepatide. Began at a small dose, and worked my way up to where I am now. I've still got 11-12 pounds left before my first goal, and I'll probably hit it by the start of August. The gym has helped too.
But then what? That's the real question, and since nobody makes this medication affordable,… well, here I am.
My next aim is to find a dose I can stay on for a few years without going broke.
I've begun looking into other options, like RT for a lower dose to make the money last longer, and TES to deal with the stubborn visceral fat around my middle.
I'm doing this alone, and I want to feel better and look better for the people closest to me.
And that's all, folks!
