Good evening, everyone! I just joined this forum because I want to pick up new knowledge.

GLP-1 medications have been part of my routine for 2-3 years. My first one was semaglutide, which I used on and off across 2 years. The scale only went down by roughly 10-12 lbs, yet it did help a lot with keeping my appetite in check. Around a year ago I made the switch to tirzepatide. On that one I feel noticeably better (semaglutide left me with some stomach upset), and I’ve dropped an additional 5-6 lbs. Still, things seem to have plateaued at 12 mg per week. That’s why I’m eager to hear what approaches others are taking. Retatrutide also has my attention, so I want to find out how it’s been working for those using it. My starting weight was 203 lbs, and right now I’m around 185 lbs. Realistically, I ought to be nearer to 155-160 lbs, so there’s still quite a distance to cover. Exercise is something I genuinely enjoy, but managing how much and how well I eat is a struggle for me. As I get older, just holding my weight steady gets tougher (I’ll hit 60 later this year).

There’s a ton of useful material to go through here - I’ve spent the past week or so reading. Eventually I figured it was time to register and make the most of it.

I’m excited to learn from all of you (and I hope I can give something back as well)!

Greetings, I'm turning 65 before long. Let's avoid doing what my ex-wife did and blame everything on getting older...lol 🙂

What age does your mind tell you that you are? Most days mine is convinced I'm 20.

Could it be that living in Texas is the reason you're thinking about managing your eating and the quality of what you eat?

Still, my guess is that as more results start showing up, that will hopefully hand you the will power you're after.

Take some time to read up on Glucagon, the 3rd agonist found in Reta; it's excellent for folks in our age bracket.

And good luck.....don't give up.

Houston’s been on my list forever—wishing you the best as you work toward your weight loss goals!

Appreciate it! Seeing what you wrote about Reta and arthritis got me really hopeful. My left knee is in rough shape. Meniscus surgery on that knee a few years ago forced me to give up running. According to the Dr, arthritis was already well established there. Cycling causes no trouble, but after squats my knee needs roughly a week before it feels right again. A cortisone shot roughly every 6 months brings relief, though I suspect those are nearing the end of their usefulness (that guess comes from how the arthritis at the base of my thumb behaved with cortisone - great results initially, but somewhere around 3-4 injections the relief stopped coming).

Reading your post pushed me to give Reta a shot and see whether it helps me. Last week I learned how to purchase crypto, so my first order is almost ready to go. I had planned to use a popular vendor here on the forum, but it seems they ran into an endotoxin problem not long ago. So more research comes first.

And you’re right, keeping food in check is tough in Texas! Next week my daughter and grandson arrive for a visit, and I already know barbecue plus a trip to Taste of Texas will be on her list, so I’d better squeeze in some extra cardio 🙂

Another reason I’m on GLP-1 has nothing to do with weight loss. The research I’ve read suggests it may also help lower the risk of Alzheimer’s onset. Alzheimer’s took my mom, and both of my older siblings, now in their 70’s, are beginning their own fight with it. So my hope is that the GLP-1’s will do some good there too.

Appreciate it! Texas is a wonderful place. 11 years in and I doubt I’ll ever leave. Iowa has its charm as well. My wife and I rode Ragbrai 2 years back — 500 miles by bike, an amazing way to experience Iowa! Iowans were incredibly warm and welcoming - the most fun I’ve ever had on a bike!

Hahaha... yeah, I wanted those first too, but stock was empty when I checked.

Same story with my 2nd and 3rd picks....lol

Fingers crossed the Reta does something for the arthritis. It caught me completely off guard !
