This marks my initial attempt at posting anywhere online. Although I've spent years browsing various forums, I've never contributed before. I stumbled into this whole rabbit hole, which is vast and profound, filled with numerous rats..... I'm a 71-year-old guy, 310lb, 6 3, and have struggled with excess weight for the majority of my life. My wife achieved positive results with sema, so I gave it a shot, but after 4 months, I only dropped 6 lb. Even though I drastically reduced my eating 6 months prior, progress remained minimal.. According to my Doc, certain individuals don't react well to GLP. Over 10 years ago, I had my thyroid removed (non cancer) and I take medication for it, which I'm confident could be a factor. I informed my doc about wanting to explore the darker path, and he approved, just asking me to stay in touch and update him.. I couldn't get any response from the lower doses of Triz and quickly increased. To make it brief, I'm now combining Triz 10mg on Monday with a Reta 5mg dose on Thursday. I figured it would either be effective or cause digestive issues, I believe I've discovered a method that works. I've come across inconsistent outcomes regarding this combination. I'm experiencing 6-10lb reduction monthly, and I feel quite well. My Doc suggested adding a small testosterone dose to the regimen since my labs indicated my testosterone was extremely low..

So that's my narrative and I'm keeping it....

"stacking Triz 10mg Monday with a dose of Reta 5mg Thursday" — how long did it take you to reach that level? I'm down roughly 120 pounds. Around 100 of that came from tirz alone (I split the dose, though the weekly total works out to 7.5), and I added reta in late Jan, titrating up gradually — right now I also split it, at an equivalent of 4 per week. To me your doses look intimidating, though I'll admit that's purely from my own experience. How are you feeling? What's your heart rate doing? Does a doctor — a real MD, not a chiro — sign off on all of this?

Wishing you success! Over the past few days, going through these posts has taught me a great deal. What to do...what not to do...personal stories. I can't wait to begin joining in more!

I began taking Triz around the middle of December. From what I can tell, I'm a slow responder. After chatting with other people, it sounds like 5-7mg of Triz is roughly the ceiling most of them can tolerate. My GP has been my doctor for 8-10 years, and he told me to keep an eye on everything. My BP is finally beginning to drop, and I'm hoping that in a few more months I can start cutting back on the medication for it. The Reta hasn't had any impact on my heart rate. Honestly, I feel better than I have in years. At this dosage, I've barely noticed any side effects. I've only dropped 25lb, which works out to about 1.5lb a week. That's fine by me. I spend most of the day outdoors staying busy with projects, and my food intake is roughly 1/4 of what it used to be a few years back. At my age, the way I see it is that either the cause (extreme overweight) or the cure is going to be what gets me. So far the cure is doing its job well, and I feel good.

Glad to spot a fellow "old head" in here. Welcome aboard, and I hope your journey goes well.

We're built a lot alike, so it's encouraging to read that your heart rate hasn't shifted and that you're feeling good, etc.

Are you just starting out with Reta?

Truthfully, I reacted the same way - though I should admit I'm still fairly new myself and haven't begun Reta yet. My guess is that most people begin below 2mg?

Before Reta, I had never mixed anything up, so my starting point was 1; after seeing no bad effects, I moved to 1.5. Since I was going to be on the road, I kept the dose unchanged for a number of weeks rather than adjusting it, and later increased to 2, then roughly 5 weeks afterward I stepped up to 3. My 5th injection at 3 is now done, and the next one will probably be 4. My approach is gradual.

Glad you came and posted this — putting up your very first forum message isn’t easy, particularly after years of attempts that went nowhere until you landed on something that finally shifts the number on the scale. I’m 55, based in Maine, and I’ve been running tirz plus reta as well. It’s good to hear you’re improving and staying in close contact with your doctor as you sort out what suits your body. Happy you’re part of this.

Way to go. Just so you know, last Thursday I ended up going in because of a swollen tube in my ear. (I get ear infections easily) and I always hate when they have to check my BP. That day it came back at 132/70. Normally I'm a 197/98 type of gal even with meds. And this was measured while I was under stress from the pain I was feeling. They checked a second time and got the same low (for me) number.

On GLPs I've dropped 56 lbs, and I still have a lot more to lose since I started out in the mid 200s anyway but...the other health benefits have been life-changing. The reason I'm telling you all this is that I think your BP will come down. Not just because of the GLP but because of the lifestyle changes you'll make too. I'm really excited for you and wishing you well.

Wishing you every success!

Just dropping in to wish you the best of luck! Really hoping things work out well for you.

I spent 4+ months on semi and 2 months on triz, and even at higher doses it did not do much for me. According to my doc, there is a small percentage of people who simply do not respond. I was after something that would actually deliver. So I went ahead and bought Reta. Figured I would give it one final shot. I had been at 12mg of triz, so I dropped that back to 10mg, and began Reta at 5mg. My thinking was either this gets something moving or it gives me the shits. Before long my gut was working and feeling better than it had in a very long time. Weight began coming off at a good pace, under 3lb per week. I feel the best I have in ages. BP is looking better too. I realize this is not the standard way to do it, but 6 weeks in, everything is going very well for me. I suppose I am my own rat. I am not looking for anyone's approval. I am just telling my story
