Hey all, I'm 30 and just joined. Spent about 2 weeks reading through threads before I worked up the nerve to write my own post.

So the short version: weight has been an issue for me since my mid 20s, and it's mostly a desk job plus stress eating situation. I've done calorie tracking, low carb, and gym stretches that fizzled out after a month or 2. Sure, I can drop some pounds, but they keep finding their way back. Right now I'm just in learning mode, checking out what's out there, semaglutide, tirzepatide, the whole list. What I still don't get is how ppl pick one over another, or what those first few months are really like on a daily basis.

If you could share anything you wish you'd known before you began, that'd be great. Also wondering whether insurance played a big role for you, and what the early days actually look like. One more thing, has anyone else here gotten started around my age? Alot of the posts I see come from folks who are older than me.

Appreciate you reading! Even just lurking here has been a help already.

35 here! I'm not in the severely overweight category, but once my BMI reached 29% I knew something had to change. About 5 years ago I broke my ankle - prior to that I was in great shape, running and lifting weights, but recovery has been rough and now I can't run or train the way I'd like to.

I've been on reta for 1 month, and I'm down roughly 5kgs, which feels good as I keep ramping things up. One odd thing: the food noise went away, then came back lately, probably from stress. I've also added more mat pilates and I try to do light weight lifting daily so I don't lose muscle while dropping weight.

Good luck!

Things have been going quite well

Welcome! Same age as me — 35, and also new this year.
What has your experience been like up to this point, whether positive or negative?
it’s been going well, a few years ago I donated a kidney, and after that I put on a huge amount of weight and ended up with some autoimmune conditions. The weight was hormonal, and I attempted every method to shed it. It was incredibly stubborn and moved so slowly, and it kept returning. I began counting calories, doing intermittent fasting, and taking supplements, and I did manage to lose 30 pounds, but honestly it was extremely tough 😣 I bought 2 single vials of Reta plus 1 vial of triz along with ghkcu… After learning that trizepitide acts right away on food noise, I began with it, while a lot of what I came across regarding Reta was very divided, though most people said it takes several weeks before results show, and as you know we live in a time of instant gratification, so I wanted to kickstart my weight loss by doing a month of triz lol I completely fell in love with it. By week 3 I had ordered a 2 year supply of trizepitide and never even gave the Reta a try 😂 By week 4 I was down 10 pounds, but I feel amazing, my body feels far less inflamed, I’m not hungry, and I have absolutely no craving for junk food.

I'm 24 and began this year, though I went with reta to start. I've already dropped more than 40 pounds, so it clearly does work. You really just have to begin somewhere and do a lot of your own research.

Welcome! So, I'm 32, my reta journey began on May, 9, and it's been a huge help for me when it comes to overeating, plus dropping weight too. About 20 pounds have come off so far, I began at .5mg, stayed there for 2 months, then moved up to 3mg and currently 4mg, and I'll likely remain at this dose for months unless my body signals otherwise. Sema 1st gen, tirz 2nd Gen, Reta 3rd Gen, as far as I know. Reta gets my recommendation since it's the only one I've tried and it's benefited me greatly. Insurance isn't something I have, so here I am 😂. Similar to others, a mild fever hit me during the first couple of days along with some fatigue. Gatorade was what I drank, which assisted with the fatigue, and the mild fever disappeared by the end of week, no fever has returned since. Because I began at .5mg, none of those side effects others mention, such as nauseous, diarrhea, or constipation, have affected me. Higher dosage is probably the reason. Eating healthy and hitting the gym are things I'm keeping up with, so that's something I recommend as well.

Good luck!!

Welcome!

This site holds a ton of useful information, though I realize it can feel like a lot to take in at once.

Speaking just for myself, at some point I had to take the leap and get going. Sema was my starting point, since my insurance was covering it back then. Once coverage ended, paying out of pocket wasn't something I could manage, so I turned to compound. I stuck with compound Sema because the side effects weren't terrible, though I did have symptoms. The closest way to put it: nausea whenever I let myself get dehydrated, plus stomach pain or cramping that felt like an upset stomach roughly 12-24 hours before my next shot was due.

A person close to me had been using Sema and moved over to Tirz in peptide form. A few months afterward I did the same, since that person and I had gone through similar things on Sema, and I was told Tirz got rid of much of that. Based on my own experience with it, I have basically no problems on Tirz. I've started looking into Reta. For me, I'll probably hold off until Reta gets its FDA stamp before pursuing it further, but I figured I'd begin researching it now.

So far everything with Tirz has been great, and this month I made my own direct purchase for the first time. Next up is learning about the other kinds of peptides.
