TLDR: brand new, and I haven't a clue what I'm doing

🙂

Hi, I'm a 35 year old woman from West Virginia — the part closer to DC, not coal mining country. I'm about two months into a weight loss effort and still finding my feet. A detail worth knowing about me: I'm in a long-term throuple (it'll matter later in this story).

Weight was never a problem for me until my late 20s. I played sports from middle school all the way through college, then waitressed through grad school. I ate whatever I fancied because I was active enough that it made no difference; even two pregnancies left me fine. Then came my first “big girl job” (read: desk job) and the pounds started arriving.

Various diets came and went over the years, but with work, parenting and a messy divorce in the mix, none of them held. I'm finally at a point where I feel stable mentally, environmentally, relationally and financially — enough to properly invest in becoming the best version of myself.

September 2025 is when I began training and cutting back on food. Roughly two months ago I added Tirzepatide. I run a calorie deficit on a slightly strange meal plan of my own invention: 1200-1400 calories a day, a tablespoon of olive oil, plus as much fruit and veg as I want. Three runs, two weights sessions and two yoga flows each week. All told, the body scan machine says I've shed around 30 pounds of fat and put on 8 pounds of muscle since September 2025.

Which brings me to the throuple part. My girlfriend, a 36 y/o woman, grew up a missionary kid on a tiny island in Micronesia, though she's spent roughly the last 5 years in the states. The island measured about 11 miles across and had no hospital, no blood bank, and barely any access to medication. So taking what people raised on the US East Coast would call “grey market” medicine is nothing remarkable to her. To her it's simply medicine. She more or less challenged me to work out whether my hesitancy is really American bias rather than anything to do with legitimacy. So I'm here to learn everything about peptides that my local pharmacy never taught me.

Glad to have you here. There’s your 1st reply now, haha. Honestly, I figure most of us are in the same situation—stuff gets in the way, but taking that step to change your life is something everyone should feel good about! For me, peptides feel safer than the diabetes medication I take. Since starting Reta, my blood sugar has been normal and I feel much better. Good luck with everything ahead!
