Hello everyone - after about 2 weeks of reading quietly here, I figured it was time to say hi. My main reason for starting tirz roughly 6 weeks ago was to find out whether it could help me break a stubborn drinking habit. The results have gone beyond what I expected - from the day after my 1st injection, I’ve stayed at no more than 1 drink daily, and on most days none at all. Alongside that, I’ve dropped 8-10 lb. that I had assumed were permanent after menopause, and I’d like to lose another 10 or so and keep it off. I’m still at a “starter" dose of 2.5-3 mg/week (split into 2x/week) and side effects have been minimal, so I intend to stay on this schedule unless it stops working. So count me as a newly converted GLP-1 believer. I’m here to hear more about others’ experiences and what to expect long term, etc.

Welcome! That’s a fascinating reason to pick tirz, and it’s brilliant that it’s doing so well for you.

Plenty of people report the same thing with alcohol — the drop in “reward” or interest in drinking shows up fairly fast for some people. Losing that much ground on alcohol from the very first dose is a big shift. The 8–10 lb drop is a welcome extra too.

Staying at a lower effective dose also suits plenty of people, provided the sides stay mild and progress holds steady. Splitting it across two pins a week is another thing plenty of folks here do.

Good on you for introducing yourself after lurking. This group carries a lot of long-term experience, so useful insights should come your way. Keep us posted on how things go!

Hi there! Our reasons for starting tirz match up — I wanted help cutting back on alcohol too. It's been just 2 weeks for me, and during that stretch I've had only 2 glasses of wine……both times while out at social gatherings. Usually I'd finish no less than a bottle of wine at home each night, and quitting felt completely out of reach. Finding something that helps me break the habit makes me so happy, plus I've been eating a lot less too!! Wishing you the best moving forward 🙂

I've been what you'd call a "problem drinker" — or pick whatever term fits — from my mid-teens onward, and I'm 40 now.

To some extent I keep it in check. I've held down a solid career, my position, plus being a husband and dad to two kids, largely without chaos. Still, none of that makes it easy. For years the cravings and the sleepless nights on the days I didn't drink have been hanging over me.

Just under a year back I stumbled onto Reta and decided to try it, motivated only by vanity before an upcoming trip. Everything I'd hoped for, it gave me — but the part that truly caught me off guard, because I hadn't anticipated it at all, was that alongside the food noise fading, the booze noise faded too.

Teetotal I did not become, yet a beer or two began to feel like something I picked rather than something pulling at me. And "a beer or two" — not zero, not twelve, which is how it usually goes for me otherwise. An absolute game changer in my case.

Best of luck to you!

Same thing happened to me. On a Friday night I used to put away 10 pints without a second thought. These days I'm satisfied after 3 or 4, and that compulsion to keep drinking has disappeared.

I also divide my dose, and I tell people they should really try it. Tirz has been part of my routine for more than a year; the splitting began once I titrated to 5mg. By day 5 I was ravenous, so I reduced to 2.5 and administered it on a 5-day schedule.
